The head coach doesn’t have the final say usually the head coach tells the head of recruitment what is required and leaves it to him. In this case until the new coach is appointed we are working on the last coach recommendations if we didn’t do it and other clubs snapped up our targets the club would be criticised again. I do agree I wish they would get their finger out appointing a new guy

It seems pretty pointless to set up a system where you're not completely reliant on one position and then give the man in that position the final say.

If it's going to be a collaborative effort then the decision making needs to be more spread out than that. Otherwise how do you benefit from the consistency of not being reliant on the man whose position is often the most tenuous?

It makes sense to have a team headed up by someone other than then head coach. The head coach shouldn’t have enough time. The head coach will say he wants a hard hitting midfielder and the recruitment team put a list together of targets the think the can get. The head coach then puts them in order of which he would like most. It’s not that much different to how a standard club runs. More of a team effort. He problem we have is the youth policy. I think too much is put into it. More needs to be put into players around Wright’s age. Hopefully this signing means the club have learned there lessons and they realise more of a balance is needed.
This seems to be a direct replacement for law. So the question is
Which one would you prefer?

 

13 goals from midfield is impressive and may well have justified him winning the player of the season award. Fair enough. It doesn't mean he's any good though. The fact that Gillingham fans don't particularly rate him inspite of that suggests he isn't. Dom Poleon scored 17 goals the season before he joined us, was poor during his other seasons and turned out to be the EXACT player he'd been for the majority of his career- which is the polar opposite of a 17 goal a season striker. I see far too many similarities here with Josh Wright. I hope I'm wrong but at the moment i dont have a good feeling about this one. Perhaps a worldy against Guiseley might change my mind.

 

I did read up on him Park and that’s why I know he WASN’T converted to an attacking midfielder, irrespective of what the lazy journalist wrote.

I’m not having a dig at the lad, but he isn’t a goal scoring midfielder. As for the reference to his penalties, I was merely adding facts to the debate. No need to get defensive.

And as I’ve just replied to Park, don’t believe everything you read; he didn’t play in an attacking midfield role that season. Which actually makes his contribution from midfield even more impressive. But don’t expect someone to score 10+ goals because that isn’t him

Back to Josh Wright I think his preference would be to stay down Sarf . I don’t want banning do I Dave Check out her Instagram . On a footballing note the guy seems rather upset with Southend but he shows loyalty to his old club Gillingham. Maybe worth a risk but would he move up to Bradford.

 

Let’s put it this way whether your right or wrong his goalscoring record can’t be any worse than Law
