I've read about him on 3 separate forums now and none of them seem to rate him. I can see our fans hyping this one up but he sounds utter shít.

 

I don’t know what forums you have read but the season before last he won all the awards at the end of season do voted for by fans. And I have just looked in the Southend site and they can’t understand why he has not been played by Powell

 

Luke O'Brien once won our player of the year award and he was rubbish.

 

Gillingham, Southend and Millwall fans don't speak very highly of him from what I've read. I'll post the comments tomorrow.

If you read Stuart’s comments in the thread Stuart he acknowledges that more and more clubs are doing it not just us

Reading about him he does seem to have a bit of history of falling out with managers.

 

Tell that to Conte, i'm sure he would disagree. Players still need to be coached. Watford are another club that have successfully used this method, gone from a championship club to comfortable Premier League side despite managers leaving all the time.

Don't know him. Is this guy any good or what? Southend can't have thought too much about him to let him leave and he seems to have been around a bit.

 

Apparently Arsenal are adopting the continental approach as well now, although Emery will 'contribute to the decision-making process and retain power of veto'. This would seem the minimum requirements for a system like this to have any chance of working. City seem intent on having the squad assembled before even recruiting a Head Coach. Can't see any coach worth their salt wanting to stake their reputation on a ready assembled squad. We're either going to get a nobody that's prepared to gamble to get their break in the game, or we're going to be left waiting as a succession of half decent candidates weigh it up and say no thanks just like Grayson did.

 

His best season at the Gills was as an attacking midfielder according to the Sky article, just what the supporters have been crying out for. Edin must be listening to you, so play nice
