No it doesn't, O'Brien was a kid when he came to the cub, as I understand it our development model is that we are bringing much oder lads in who have been rejected by the likes of Arsenal in Robinsons case, we are not bringin g in14 year olds.

 

I was referring to players released from other clubs that may fit into the development Squad

 

All fair comment but that is not their model of bringing the likes of Hanson, Robinson, Gibson, Patrick, Pybus, and the other young players they brought in.

 

I'm sure you were Park but you must remember the last Development Squad under Archie Christie. It didn't work and lasted months before Parky binned it in favour of the Youth Team playing competitive games and a Reserve side likewise against men. Proper games with proper competition.
Of those who formed that Development Squad only Nahki (brought by Mark Ellis) and Ryan Tafazoli who was let go but has had success in League football have survived. The others have drifted off quickly into non- league football or out of the game because they weren't good enough. The only other of that lot who has part made it is Scott Brown who has had a number of Scottish clubs and was at Peterhead last season.
Far better in my view to get younger ones, 17/18 year olds, McCall, Hendrie, Singleton, Jackson, Ellis and so on through our Youth set up, latterly McBurnie, home grown and playing for the shirt but then do I know football.

But as yet we haven't seen any, so we can only go along with the players they have brought in so far who have all been 19 and upwards.

 

You sound a little bitter . Robinson is not doing to bad and maybe Gibson will come through. Other clubs pick them up why shouldn’t we

Me never. The development Sqyad in my opinion was a good idea the first time and I was disappointed it was dropped. Archie bless him proved to be a poor manager iof it. I just think a good youth set up and a good well run Development Squad or even just speculating on good young players released by bigger clubs us a way forward where players are costing more and more money

 

Of course loads don’t make it but some do and the better we get at it the more we will get

 

I partly agree with @Park bantam on this. It's cheaper to try and find a young player you can mould and bring through, rather than spend a fortune on established players with no resale value, on big wages who might flop. There needs to be a balance though, as too much of one or the other can be detrimental.
