Just quoting what I'd heard, but I agree with your comment with regards the first McBurnie instalment.

Yes for losses he was culpable. The club suffered as a result of not putting in checks with the finances - out going / in coming. Naive ? It his club though to do with - what he wants unfortunately.

Talking about the pitch, just googled- Blackpool's new pitch. Apparently they carried out the same procedure as City did, well looking at our pitch and looking at there pitch they obviously got the right people in. Last year Blackpool's pitch was similar to ours but watching EFL Quest last night, there pitch was like a bowling green and ours not fit for professional football. It had bald patches all over it on the first match of the season, so it had no chance.

And there you have it RT summed up in a nutshell no budget nothing happens !!
The club have absolutely no imagination no drive and as the illustrious Fordy says no ambition
Get the sales/ marketing department to come up with a scheme to raise the funds that's what they are paid for Its too easy to just sit back and say no budget no pitch. the club needs a shake up from top to bottom but I seriously don't think anyone has either the where with all or more worryingly the interest
no idea where any priorities lie but it's certainly not on advancing the club
    SAD !!!!!!!

Could do, it was a similar sort of thing that went toward the funding of the screen and changing rooms. Not keen on it myself though, I'd much rather the club made it a priority of the budget. In cricket they get reported for sub standard pitches, there really is no excuse in the book for a pitch in that state, and it's in that state because of the football clubs lack of investment in the pitch.

As I've just mentioned there is no excuse, the money is there. If it ends up in the same state next season and i was the EFL I would fine the club

    Nice idea about the crowdfunding
We have a reported multi millionaire owner
It would be small change to him to sort the pitch out
Count me in for crowdfunding on the proviso that when funds like the McBurnie deal come I get my investment back
    Sounds familiar somehow !!!!

If we can get sponsorship for a stand, can we not get someone to do the same for the pitch.

I think your hearing must be on the wane! ;)

Swansea will receive £3m from the Blades at the end of the season if the Blades aren't relegated from the PL. We'll receive 15% of that as part of the sell-on arrangements. I'm sure you can do the maths.

ps If you can't do the maths, it's £450k

As I said just quoting what I was told, one thing I believe we can say is Sheffield United will stay up and we will receive another nice little earner thanks to Rhodes Jr transfer package, now whether that is reinvested in the pitch is quite another thing.

Maybe these lads would sponcor the pitch "STRI Group" but instead of cash, do whatever needs doing to get a quality playing surface, with the digital screen showing before and after every game ;).

Making money to progress the club is not in our remit Dave
We are only here to not loose money forsaking players pitch facilities etc
Stuck in a rut (pardon the pun) is our speciality
We will be stuck in this league for at least 5 years or until we get the off pitch personnel
who have football ( not accountancy) at heart

The commercial department is actually doing well considering its having to sell league 2 football to businesses. It can only work with what's available. Cheap season tickets gets you a cheap pitch I suppose.

That’s assuming higher prices means more revenue in total

It also has a massive (for this league) fan base to tap in to
Cheap season tickets aren't the only downfall the marketing campaign for them this time has been almost non existent Any ideas how many have been sold
The club lack imagination as to how to progress

Fair comment, its no guarantee of more revenue. In fact it could even go the other way. But I doubt it. 25 quid on a season ticket more than pays for a decent playing surface and the fall off of support would be so minimal to be insignificant.

You might not like it but the marketing campaign this time has been in your face. Unfortunately the best marketing tool is success on the pitch..

How about upping the cost of next seasons season ticket by twenty quid. For that twenty quid, they buy a 1m square of grass, and lay it. You are now the owner of a piece of VP turf! 20,000 season tickets sold (gufffaw) x £20 = £400k towards a new pitch - which now has the added bonus of having a connection with the fans :) Open days to visit your piece of pitch, selfie opportunites, betting on who's grid of turf the goal is coming from, the list is endless. Could also colour code the grass sections to make it easier to recognise "your" section of grass.

Come on Sparks, this marketing communication role is a piece of piss #cityforall #grassrootfans :D :D
