McCall got to a League One Playoff Final under Rahic, Nolan lost 5-2 in the semi's of a League 2 Playoff, losing 4-1 at home.

McCall getting that far under Rahic of all people shows he's not shit.

McCall did well that season after 3 previous attempts with a team largely put together by Parky and flunked the play offs the following season he lost 6/in a row and didn’t have a clue what to do next.
Having said that whilst he is the last manager I want when he is appointed as he will be it will be a clean sheet for me

He is very confident in his own ability, shall we say. He talked himself up at Luton - deservedly so as he did a good job. I also think he’d view us as a backward step as he believes he’s a Championship manager. He might sit it out for another opportunity higher up the pyramid. If he’s interested, though, he’d be a real coup.

I don’t think anyone has mentioned season ticket sales yet have they?

It was widely acknowledged among the fans that nobody was renewing for next season and that was potentially a big contributor to why Bowyer got fired.

If this is the case then the board will be asking two big questions and need to decide which takes priority:

    1) who can take the squad we are left with, now the transfer window has closed, back into the playoffs

    2) who will inspire the fans and get ST sales moving for next season.

We have three winnable games coming up, two of which are at home, starting this weekend, and they provide a terrific opportunity to get the show back on the road.

I do think the likes of N. Jones and Tisdale make long term appeal but I’m not convinced they tick the boxes the board may be looking at in the immediate term, as both play football and we have a squad set up to play direct football through Novak, Don and Guthrie.

Everything points to Warnock. He can work with target men like those in the squad and he is a big name appointment who will rally the troops. Some have questioned his desire but we present an opportunity to get another promotion on his CV.

He has said he wants a job until the summer. Thats rare. Teams usually want longer commitment but these are unusual circumstances. On our part, there is no long term commitment there - fire him a deal heavily weighted around a promotion/top 7 finish bonus to motivate him.

Some have mentioned him working with Stuart and asked whether Stuart would be prepared to be no. 2. Officially make them joint managers. Warnock gets games on his CV and Stuart’s pride isn’t hurt as stepping back as a no. 2.

You’d have Warnock’s experience to appease the Stuart doubters and the big McCall fans will cite his passion and feel he was harshly dismissed by Rahic. ST sales would be boosted under the duo.

The other appeal is Stuart knows the club. No need to hang onto Drury for a handover period - time we don’t have. Everyone knows all about Warnock and you wouldn’t need to discuss at length long terms plans as you would with a Jones or Tisdale.

If it goes wrong and we don’t go up then make a long term appointment in the summer, but hopefully the club will have rescued ST sales in the interim to give us a decent budget next year - we need good sales for Rhodes’ discount price model.

Gary Jones crept up on the betting list into 4th spot,Don’t think he would take it even if it was offered to him.

Parker in the T&A seems to be edging towards a McCall appointment or he’s just following the betting markets ;)

Just a thought. We’re led to believe that GB didn’t play a part in signing the new players. Imagine if Rhodes/Rupp brought in those two strikers with view to them suiting Warnock’s (or whoever they appoint) style of play.
    How dark is that? :)

If he turned up I'd be fine with him. But 62 people actually wanting him, I don't get it. John Still was the saviour of Luton not Jones, it was a basket case club, Still got them going and got them the hardest promotion of all, back into L2, Jones took over a solid L2 club from Still, not a failing one. He got promotion, but so did Bowyer, he made a fabulous side there but left for £££'s into a failing club (like us) and failed spectacularly. He's got half the votes of Warnock!

I remember a day like this, leaving for the train, we were managerless, stood at the platform waiting for the train to arrive and then....

    BOOM!

    Michael Collins! :eek2::joy:

Hopefully today won't be that bad....

Don’t ever underestimate the capability of the club to cause mass disappointment.

It will be McCall because the club can't open their mind.

Would it be a record amount of times a manager has come back to a club?

    You are insane....

Doyle, Vincelot, NKP, Dieng, Law, Hiwula, Wyke were all McCalls. He also brought back Josh Cullen and brought Mark Marshall in from the reserves.

    Will improve the atmosphere
    Puts bums on seats
    Plays attractive football
    Knows the club inside out
    Has a decent record here

It makes perfect sense for this moment in time.
