If there's one thing a Bowyer team can do, it's sit in and defend. Often there's no excuse for us doing it, tonight there was no other option and it was the right thing to do.

What was embarrassing was how excited their lad was at equalising.

His celebration told me that he was thinking 'wow, we've been awful, but we've got away with it here'.

    That's how I read it.

Correct it was meant to be the one about the Cheltenham defenders playing sublime passes. ‍♂️

Described as a 'blatant dive' on their forum.

Looked soft, but no softer than some other penalties we've won (a recent Connolly one springs to mind).

We're certainly getting our share of penalties, but Shay made it happen with a very direct run that gave the referee a decision to make. Whether he got it right, I don't know, but I'd sooner our players produced thrusting runs into the area than fanny about with it. Points to McCartan for that.

I was happy leaving the ground tonight which hasn’t happened a lot recently. Think JV leaving could be a blessing in disguise. Cooke needs to be starting every game. Connolly worked his knackers off.

Think we will be fine making at least the play offs

They did. One in the first half stands out. CH at left mid field position arrows a ball towards the players tunnel 50+ yards plus onto their players toes. Sublime. ;)

Not read much of this thread since the game finished but I find the celebration at the end of the game embarrassing. How low is our bar? We hung on for the whole of the second half with 10 men against Chelmsford and we are celebrating? Jeez. We need to get some ambition. Only one team deserved to win that game and it was n’t us. Okay we ran a bit more but don’t settle for this crap. One shot on target other than a dubious penalty even with 10 men is not good enough. If Bowyer should be sacked, tonight’s performance has done nothing to change it. Clapping the crowd and hugging the players.WTF? It was Chelmsford Town not Chelsea!

Pluses tonight were hard work and desire from the players plus Clayton giving us an effective target man.
Devitt's silly sending off gave Bowyer a get out of jail free card for putting every one behind the ball. We defended manfully but slightly different tactics might have paid dividends.
Why when Cheltenham had a corner didn't, we keep Connolly or Oteh on half way? 2 men would probably have marked them. Why when Mellor had gone off did we keep pumping goal kicks out wide right when on occasion there were acres down the left for an unexpected run to be made into?
Lots of hard work but same old Bowyer shocking football.
Got to admire his nerve walking in front the kop pointing to the badge at the end, laughable!

Don't know how you can think that when we have 4 points from15 which is relegation form.

Bowyer came on at the end pumping his fist and pointing at the badge. Bit cringe to be honest.

Touch on the shoulder of SM but put it another way, had that being given the other way around, I wouldn't have been happy

    Did he?

    Glad I missed that.

Gave a polite clap to a few of the players on the way out, but not surprised if Bowyer did that. He was fist pumping big time after we scraped a late win against National League Morecambe on New Year's Day.

I saw that as well. Yet nobody booed him.

    Why was it cringeworthy?

Cheltenham are awful by the way. If we had a competent manager then we'd be 15 points clear of them, just terrible. You can tell they're used to 2000 fans when they score an equalizer against 10 men and the lad grabs the ball and celebrates like he's just won them the Champions League
