Neither was McCartan maybe a frustrating reaction but if your getting no joy hitting it long whiched seemed to be our main way of going forward we start looking to play to the strengths of the likes of Doyle, McCartan or Oteh, the early chance Connolly had goes in it could have been so different but it didn't and we never looked good enough to create any sort of chance for our front men.
I'm not questioning if Clayton could do more but as I posted Thurday afternoon Donaldson was very much involved in traing hence my optimistic call that he would start, but reading his comments to Bowyer could he do 70/90 minutes if required Tuesday night.

Well someone's got to go back to their parent club. Bowyer (If he's still in the job) said he was going to sort out the situation.

There's so many things he's doing wrong they outweigh the problems that aren't of his making. Picking Donaldo when he can only do 15 minutes, Cooke not getting on from the start, starting with Reeves, playing Pritchard wide left, making utterly bizarre substitutions etc. The league position has masked over just what a dire season this has been so far, it cannot carry on without changes to either management or personnel and formation.

I noticed Oteh giving his shirt away at the end of the game, suggests to me he has been told he will not need it again.

thing is though, when the system was changed to a 352 and donaldson brought on - mccartan dropped deeper and started to pick up the 2nd ball that dropped. something that we missed for the first 65-70 minutes of the match.. but by then it was too late. the damage had already been done.

So why wouldn't Bowyer do the same, by bringing Oteh on rather than Clayton, with McCartan just behind if Clayton could only do 15/20 minutes , he's got some big decisions too make before Tuesday night.
Whats the point of bringing them in to train today (to make a point to the fans) Bowyer surely can't change anything they have not done previously on the training pitch,or in your opinion will it be a sit down clear the air meeting with a re-run of yesterday debacle ?.

because donaldson is going to give the opposition centre halfs a bigger challenge in the air than oteh. oteh wouldn't compete like donaldson leaving the centre half with practically a free header, a decent challenge and the 2nd ball can drop anywhere. it's not rocket science to be able to see that.

bringing them in today will give them a reminder that yesterday wasn't good enough, and if they don't apply themselves in the correct manner then they'll be in for extra work. imagine if he hadn't of had them in today - people like yourself would be declaring that as a sign that he was happy with yesterdays shambles. can't win with some.

Didn't he do that after the Crawley defeat?

You are completely missing the point Brisbane. Bringing on any player, fully fit or otherwise with 15 minutes to go when you are 2-0 down is too late to have any sort of chance of changing the game. If that was all Donaldson was able to manage, he shouldn't have come off the bench yesterday, end of.

Yeah, bringing Donaldson on was a surprise, I was expecting Paudie.

Well you would hope by bringing Oteh on he would not play high balls to him and Doyle that's the point I'm making, and after 76 minutes it was hardly going to change anything... hardly rocket science.

Please don't make pathetic comments like "people like yourself" I asked a simple question what difference calling them in for extra training would mean and gave you reasons (to make a point to the fans), it's the likes of me and a few others who have supported our manager on here and got plenty of stick for doing so.

Hopefully bump into you in the ground dave, we must be mad. Unfortunately I bought the tickets yesterday morning. If I knew then what I know now, after witnessing that sh*tshow yesterday, I wouldn’t have bothered. Really don’t want to see that clueless idiot in the dugout on Tuesday night

This post really winds me up. How patronising do you think it sounds when you ask questions like “out of interest who would you take” or “what formation would you have used”. We are just supporters. There are qualified personnel - so-called experts - managing and coaching the team. It is up to them, they are the ones getting paid, supposedly outwitting the opposition. The fans can clearly see if it isn’t working, they aren’t stupid. But that’s where the manager shows his nous and does the correct thing. But bringing on a defender at 2-0 for a winger, even the most amateur football fan can see that is the wrong thing to do

Nothing patronising about those questions. Perfectly valid and such questions are asked of posters on this forum all the time. Why on earth would such a post wind you up? I'm genuinely baffled?

He does come across a condescending poster, maybe he believes he should not be questioned, if so he's on the wrong forum.

Well as Donaldson was involved with a full training session on Thursday I would have though Clayton would have had more to offer than 15/20 minutes and if not why travel, apart from a bit of game time what did he or the manager get from his 15 minute cameo.
We were 2- 0 down at half time that was the time to offer a different way of going about trying to get something from the game even if it was only pride, yet we wait until the 57th minute to change things and what did he change a like for like Reeves/Devitt and a more attacking player hooked for yes another defender, we were two down and looking like conceding every time Mansfield attacked

Well presumably 15 minutes game time is 15 minutes more than he would have got sat at home. Tuesday he might be able to do a full half. Most managers ease injured players back into games by giving them little cameos. At the moment we need Donaldson back . . . and quick.

I accept that but we were 2 - 0 down when he made that change he knew the fans were far from happy with what they'd witnessed, after 76 minutes Clayton was not going to change anything but maybe our only other forward option Oteh could have if Bowyer had made a triple substitution when Devitt and Mellor were brought on, we had nothing to lose.
Unless Doyle leaves before Tuesday him and Vaughan will lead the attack IMO.

Do you honestly think Bowyer made the best use of the players at his disposal on the bench yesterday? Do you truly believe that at 2-0 down, the best plan was to wait until the last 15 minutes of the game and then bring on a player coming back from injury who had openly stated before the game that he wouldn't be able to manage anything more than that?
