Noticed over last few days teams in our league have signed players from non league.

Portsmouth Donny and Blackpool upto now wondering if it's where we are looking at hoping to pick up a gem.

Some will say going down that route is asking for trouble but if it's signing one or 2 from there I don't see a problem.

Kristian Dennis from Chesterfield could be available for cheaper now, should we pursue that option again

If Chesterfield want rid he's got to go for free, no fee for me.

Obviously hit and miss but some have worked out well. It's an opportunity for them and you have to hope we get lucky and some of them pay off.

We can chase him all you want, as soon as another club want him, they'll get him. 2/3 of a salary made up of incentive isn't as attractive as a big fat regular wage.
Remember SG's parting shot that Rahic needs to lower the expectation he's given the fans.

I think the signing of Dennis is lowering the expectations he's given the fans mate, I know it might sound a little outrageous but I'd persist with Kai before bringing Dennis in.

Nothing wrong with signing non league players, there's plenty of hidden gems in there. But just like signing players from league 2, you need to sign the best available. Mediocre won't cut it.

Chesterfield don't want rid but he doesn't want to sign a new contract so they've agreed to put him on the transfer list and let him go if the right offer comes in, if it doesn't then he's happy to stay. Similar situation at Peterborough with Maddison as they don't want to sell him but agreed to it as he wants to play at a higher level and will sell him if the right offer comes in.

Bizarre folk are writing off Dennis. Unless you watch him week in week out you cant really judge. 21 goals for a relegated team certainly ticks a box for me. See how he does if we get him.

You would like to think that Port Vale whom you have mentioned, have learnt lessons.

This was the team in the pre season of 2016/17 whom let 16 players go and brought 16 players in. 10 from European leagues and at the turn of the year, lost their leading scorer, one Alex Jones.
Prior to the start of that season, the chairman wanted a promotion push. What did he get... Relegation !!!

Last season, 20th in league 2.

I can definitely see us nearly signing Dennis again this summer.
