This was the post I replied to "Yeah, that's where we've been going wrong, talking to the agent. Tell me again, why does a player employ an agent?" and I posted "The man is deluded, Edin I mean, good luck with that, should be quit interesting when the PFA get involved after the player says they told my agent to Verpiss dich......................bu..bu...but we do this back in Germany Mr Taylor.


You have a problem my friend, it's called banter, but then you need a sense of humor, obviously something missing from you DNA.

 

I get what you mean. But can you imagine what Mcmahons reaction would have been to somebody missing an header from one of his crosses and costing him an assist.

 

To be fair piece work made my job a lot easier, because if someone wasn't pulling their weight within that group the others soon made it obvious to me and he was taken from that group and worked elsewhere, usually on his own so he got paid for what he did.

If you think that making out like the PFA are going to get involved because we want to talk to the player ASWELL as the agent is amusing then it might be you who has the DNA issue, my friend. Talking to a player before you sign them didn't actually sound that ludicrous to me? It must be an awful idea eh?

Plenty of actual stuff to be negative about without creating more stuff through misunderstanding or misquoting perfectly reasonable points of view.

Do you think it's a crazy idea to want to talk to a player as well as the agent before you sign them?

 

Twelve months ago, very much so. Admittedly, that may be harder now, especially with no HC, more key players leaving and unrest still amongst the remaining squad.

But going back to your original point, yes, if I was a young player last year looking at doubling my money with performance related bonuses, I’d have taken it.

No it's a great idea but I'm not sure his agent would be happy, that was the reason I replied the way I did Aaron.

Are you suggesting a player pays for the services of an agent to get the best deal he can for him, as footballers aren't renowned for their accountancy skills and would sit down and talk salaries with the owner of the club ?.

 

Not before they sign. I would expect the initial conversation to be with the agent though.

Why would we speak to a player with no chance of us coming to an agreement?
Ie player wants £4k a week, we only think he's worth £2k a week. We're not willing to pay more.
