i think Edin has got it right in his interview he said they are trying this year to talk to the player and agent this year rather than just their agent because it’s them that are only interested in money. Talk to the player direct get the vision accross

Yep, swings and roundabouts. Not going to argue about if you feel I was unfair as it's valid there's some things we may never know so we fill in the gaps with our own thoughts. On the Grayson issue I did say no easy task, think it's baffling to most as to why the team seemed to just down tools.

No because the team take the bonuses and the team is only as good as the weakest player so in a incentivised environment players help the weakest along. And you say it can’t work in football it does in Germany and other continental countries

Yeah, thats where we've been going wrong, talking to the agent. Tell me again, why does a player employ an agent?

Not from my experience. The weakest got a hard time because he was costing the others £hundreds a month. It was all a bit unsavoury. For reasons already posted, bonuses should be individual.

I heard what he said. And he is being as naive on that point as he is on introducing greater incentivised pay into English football without taking the rest of the industry with him. He might want it; it might be a good idea for the game but when the vast majority of clubs in our division aren't doing what he wants, he simply won't be able to deliver on it.

And does he really believe he can either take the agent out of the negotiation process or convince the player to ignore the player's agent's advice? If he does then he's in cloud cuckoo land.

Let's face it a professional footballer is in it for himself. He generally doesn't give flying f as long as he has performed himself. That goes for his wage too.

But not average £5m a year that Championship clubs lose.

Of course they do but talking to the player direct along with his agent rather than just the agent allows them to put accross other things to the player other than wages. Surely it is better to speak face to face rather than a third party it is the player who decides in the end

Decent players won't buy into that.

The agent will still talk numbers and if we are not offering the money the agent thinks his client is worth then Edin can says he's moving Valley Parade to the moon.

I think players have minds of their own and talking to them directly can only help. But as you say some will only be interested in what seems to be the better offer and Edin acknowledges that by saying let them go.

I agree. Of course there are going to be examples of players who don't give a shit if they are not going to be playing week in week out or not even making the bench as long as they are earning big bucks (Devante Cole to Wigan springs to mind), but for those players who are not lazy little runts and who actually want to play as much as they can because they love the game and they want to become the best player they can be, it makes perfect sense for them to be present with their agent so that they can hear what the club can offer them aside from wages.

Let's all go into work tomorrow and ask our boss if we can change from our normal pay to incentivised pay. Image of Mike Baldwin running his hands together.

You’re correct Dave and Edin has admitted that he made mistakes, in particular not getting all staff singing from the same hymn sheets.

You can’t keep knocking the guy for mistakes made in the past and admitted to making. Can you?

I am long retired but I would only work in an incentivised environment. But even better stop being a wage slave. Work super hard for yourself and earn your true potential

I've said when I see they have learnt I'll be quite happy to go back to happy clapping, but just saying they have admitted to their mistakes mean very little, its a start now many want to see them in practice.

Sorry Park, but that’s just rubbish. Even Rahic has admitted to failing in that respect. He still cites the disharmony at the club as one failing of his. Not Stuart’s.... his own..!
