Away vs Macclesfield, Sat 30 Nov 2019

I can't get Radio Leeds 774 but as you say that performance will take some defending, same last Saturday at Plymouth, telling the team the first half was not acceptable.

 

Four reasons we're struggling:
1. Starting the season with only three forwards.
2. A refusal to play 4-4-2.
3. Too many lightweight players on heavier pitches.
4. A very negative and over-cautious approach from the manager.

 

Although a Draw is not totally disappointing - How City approached and adapted to the game was. The second half need more urgency and determination than the first - But appeared to deliver less.
Macclesfield didn't match City in competing, again more of a case City dropped to the oppositions ineptitude.

 

The one positive that we can take from the game was Reeves getting 80+ minutes of game time.

 

I think you can add Ismail to that comment.

 

High expectations with the players we recruited but
quickly desolving into poor performances and lots of
"Talk" but no walking the walk!!

Consistency,belief,skill....all missing and we seem to have
a squad who don't possess a winning mentality!

 

Ah well, only 1 point to deduct from our total if Macclesfield dont finish the season!

 

Which is a shame as Zeli is one of our best performers at home.

I would be inclined to give Bowyer the benefit of the doubt , he put a good team together at Blackpool but I think he definitely needs help, Drury needs packing off.

 

A few need to remember what happened with us under McCall when he was sacked with us in the playoffs, same at Sunderland. If a team is in the playoffs they’re playing for the manager whether they’re doing well or slogging on like us, it’s an important part of football. They’re trying but some shocking errors today Vaughan, Wood and Richards-Everton in particular were well below standards we expect. Woods deliveries were the worst I’ve ever seen from him all afternoon.

 

And he has shown what he's capable of, unfortunately he seems to fall into that category of most wide-men.... they cant reproduce that sort of form/performance week in week out

 

Any thoughts I had regarding automatic promotion are fading fast.
Inept tactics and a group of players who have started to go through the motions on a match day.
The squad is simply not good enough to boss the opposition.
The firepower and creativity required is none existent.
Cold bleak winter ahead and nothing to warm your hands.

 

I thought the same when we went 1 - 0 down, isn't that sad .

 

They certainly weren't "sharp" today!

 

I only listened to the second half commentary but it was refreshing to hear Gary Jones. He was as frustrated as Vaughan by the high balls lumped forward against big central defenders.
I cannot understand why professional lower league players are unable to change tactics when something is obviously not working.

 

Reeves dictated much of the game from deep.
He was one of the few that did well.

I don’t understand why paudie remains on the bench. BRE error for the pen today. It was a stonewall pen.

Little creativity up too. Connolly disappeared second half. Zeli wasn’t going to influence the game when balls are smashed to him head high.
Disjointed when really by now I would be expecting better performances. A concern.

Didnt listen to the game today as I normally do for away games.

Sounds like we were below par again.

Missing sitters? And poor defending by BRE?

Surely Paudie has to be in with a start next game?

Glad to hear Reeves got 80 mins and positive reports on here.

Anyone that went or watched on Ifollow how did Taylor play?
