Now your giving your opion of what Doyles doing at Swindon which I asked you above do you know to be fact...no answer.

So would you be happy for a striker to just stand in the oppositions box and not contribute anything all game except the odd tap in and penalty?

To darn right I would but that is and never was the case with Doyle he did his share of the dirty stuff which every player in modern football has to do.

If the answers no, do you think Doyle’s overall performances in a Bradford shirt were good?

His performances whilst at Valley Parade we not as good as many wanted, but unfortunatly I have to repeat myself by saying not one of the managers/coaches played to his strengths, now if you velieve that's an excuse we'll have to disagree but take time out to look at his past and the seasons he was leading scorer at his clubs ( also in a very poor team last season still managed to be leading scorer) and see he was part of a strike partnership.

Try answering without giving an excuse for him as well if possible.

How can I do that when if they don't meet with your approval you class them as excuses.

I agree with @WilsdenBantam@WilsdenBantam on Doyle. In my view he is a luxury player. He has to have too many ducks in a row for him to perform; ducks we don’t have and sadly neither does Swindon.

They have adjusted their team by the sounds of it to accommodate Doyle which has probably left them short elsewhere. If Swindon go on to get promoted with Doyle scoring 20+ I will agree, but I would still say we can’t afford him and on the back of last season he didn’t do enough for us to build a team round him.

Thankfully no football coach shares your views on a strikers role in a team. Could you imagine playing 4-4-2 with the two strikers stood waiting for a tap in, the team wouldn’t get out of their half as we often didn’t last season because Doyle couldn’t trap cement :joy:

    Spot on.

Having all those 'ducks' lined up weakens teams.

No not just his but he more than played his part as did the other forwards who couldn’t hold the ball up field, if the ball goes up to the forwards and they lose the ball stands to reason that gives the opposition possession and puts the team back under pressure. Unless you don’t value a forward that can hold the ball up? Wasn’t that a key strength of Hanson’s or was the only point of him to score goals?

At least most can see the simple point in making. I’d rather win more games than play to one players strengths and let him get his personal tally up whilst potentially being detrimental to the team, suppose I’m strange like that.

Huddersfield’s top scorer the season they were promoted was something like 11 in the league, their forwards contributed far more than the odd tap in and penalty. Meanwhile Bristol City had 20+ goal man Kodjia and ended something like 16th.

I think my views on James Hanson were well documented on C&B.
Let's go back to when Rahic signed Doyle most thought that the capture a proven goal scorer was just what we needed, the trouble was many also said he needed a big strike partner along side him as that was a large part of his game in the past where he achieve his goal scoring feats.
What happend we got George Miller a 20 year old kid, most saw the two didn't work together within the first few games, so sometimes Hopkin started with just Doyle or Miller up top on their own.
This is not a pop but Doyle still finished top scorer for us, not a mean feat in last seasons poor squad.
We get onto this season we sign Donaldson and Vaughan as probabley our starting duo a thread was posted "If..Doyle goes big mistake" which I personally thought was a bad move if it hapend although I could see the potencial of giving Bowyer more muscle with regards signings.
If he had stayed I'd hoped if either Donaldson or Vaughan we out injured he would take their place and have either big lad as his strike partner, unfortunatly it was agree "mutually" and Doyle leaves for Swindon where he is thriving and doing the job he is paid to do.
Although we still have time to sign another striker to go along with DV at this present moment we don't have cover.
We obviously don't see Doyle in the same light but it will be very interesting if he keeps putting the ball in the net at Swindon and they are one of our competitors for a play off place will we recall him in January.

I don’t know much about Swindon admittedly, but I did check their line up on his debut on the LiveScore app. Not sure how reliable it is but it has them as a 4-2-3-1 with Doyle as the 1.

    Interesting.

How many times have I read that that isn't playing to his strengths...

    Hmm...

But he scored he must be playing with a target man now and it was all Bowyers fault.. And Hopkin’s and Collins...

Never ever the players remember that.

Now now ladies who ever he's playing along side it bringing the best out of him, but f**k it well just knock the guy because Collins, Hopkin or Bowyer couldn't.
Is this the same player who couldn't trap a bag of cement ?.

He’s played as a lone striker in the 3 games he’s played and scored 3 goals , something he couldn’t do for us. Doyle just didn’t want to be here and now he’s back with his buddy Wellens he’s now remembered how to play. It would be interesting to see if he’s scored plenty before Xmas and we recall him in January if he suddenly forgets how to play again. We were right to offload him because we would have just had a player who wasn’t interested in playing for us on big wages.

Should we give everybody who was crap a free pass then if they do ok elsewhere Bronco? The fella was awful and the point folk are making it wasn't just his goal scoring that let him down, it was his all round general play.

You were the one talking about Swindon getting the best out of him, when the reality is he’s been played as a lone striker as he was here. So yes I’ll knock him for his lack of contribution here, who knows this goal machine might have saved us from relegation had he shown his 3 game Swindon form for us over a season luv.

Where he scored most his goals, but he didn’t just stand in the box waiting for a tap in. He was capable of taking part in the build up like all professional footballers should be.

If he is part of a sucsessful Swindon team that is in the mix as we hope we will be at Christmas it won't matter if he was recalled and doesn't score, the whole point would be he's not scoring for Swindon.
You don't give your rivals any help, yes I'd tell Swindon if you want to keep him you pay a fee if not he comes back to Valley Parade.

He was mainly found in the box waiting for the tap in and he openly admits this. Yes he made a pass or 2 on the build up but he wasn't a Shearer/Rooney type player that was always involved.
