A last attempt to get Grayson back as those interviewed haven't cut the mustard?

    Just a guess.

possibly. or everyone they've interviewed has said the same thing and they've enough humility to admit they may be wrong on this one.

The opposite for me. I think it'd be a positive. If you have limited resources, focus it on the youth team and include 3-4 younger players in your first team squad like Devine, Robinson, Gibson who can fill squad player roles.

I think this may be one of the 'lessons learned'. The money we've spunked on players like Barr, Grodowski, Gunner, Pybus etc. You could probably get one decent first team player for every 4 of those.

Really hope this turns out to be true, get the money invested in the first team. I also like the idea of Rupp finally putting his foot down and telling Edin to politely do one. If that conversation actually happened I’d have loved to have been a fly on the wall. Lets hope some good came out of Grayson’s time in charge and that they’re implementing some of his ideas.

Can’t see it Sydney. I reckon Grayson wanted to change too much of Edin’s grand design which is why he went. There’s then been a period of reflection and compromise (hopefully) and a decision made to implement some of what Grayson wanted.

its not been watered down. Its finished. sam has left. and the players will either be in the u18s or first team squad. there is no u23s development squad full stop, as of yesterday. rupps decision

believe or dont believe. time will show this is not fake news. i would expect an announcement shortly.

rumours are rahic is not happy being over ruled.

Can't do right can they ? Slagged off for investing in youth, slagged off for not. If this means all the funds go into the first team squad and we go back to the old ways of apprentices/ YTS for youth with the odd game then in the short term it's a good move in my book.

Not having a development squad/ under 23's doesn't mean we won't sign 3/4 youngsters a year and throw them into the first team squad does it ? We still need to play reserve games and it just means they play in those rather than a dedicated youth league.

Short term, good move until we can move up and have funds to establish a proper academy/ school of excellence. Some don't realise that these things are probably only 50% football based and the rest is taken up in other areas of education that cost money, along with accomadation/ living costs/ mentoring etc.

Nowt wrong with having half a dozen young uns who train and play with the first team squad. Hey, it might actually make them develop quicker (or get weeded out quicker)

And very good points. :) ......... My only worry is that these boys, when called upon will not be up to scratch - and suffer the same doubt, as McBurnie did, as results suffer.
Young players need to be pushed, and not held back. Holding back only reduces confidence and therefore any progress.
We then revert to the old rhetoric of ............ "Why didn't we persist with McBurnie !" Swansea will now profit from any gain.
So do City need an interim platform to develop ? - Yes, in my very humble opinion.
So let's scale down, but not abandon, OK ? :)

Lets face it Ronnie, we did very well out of McBurnie getting £200k and if we get another £600k it's considerably more than we could have hoped for if he'd stayed with us all that time. We can't have it both ways, and I guess your in a very small minority here.

Bottom line, if they are good enough they will make it. Time to move on and get back to the basics of picking up first team ready young lads like Singleton/ Abbott/ Hendrie were when we got them from Coventry. We can't be all things to all people and if the under 23's cost £500,000 a year its money we need NOW on the first team squad.

the rumour is its not grayson who is coming back. a full time manager (not coach) with a budget solely for the 1st team but can work with youth also. rupp will take direct communication via said man as past has shown a break down of communication when rahic was involved. please note this is a rumour. the u23s development squad no more is a fact.

just rumours. what i have heard is budget to be better than last season although this might just be the first team budget. edin to take a back seat. english type manager to take over not coach.

i know this is completely different to what was officially said. i can only assume a time of reflection has changed rupps mind. or that is was rahic that released the latest club announcement without rupps backing.

All very well (and good) but is there anything to read into the phrase "coming back" ...................... ie is it a former "manager" returning :)

    Fair enough, HB ..............
And yet there are MANY on here who state development for a reported £3.5m player will take years - Errrr....... HOW long since City sold McBurnie ? And this is what we risk losing.
Patrick - a point of note. Made an impact - but falls well short. The lad needs developing, not crucifying !!
We can NOT have our cake and eat it - Sorry, but NO.
By ALL means put maximum funds into the first team, but let's not abandon the Greenhouse, as we tend our Garden, huh ? Future years COME from that Greenhouse !!

well its just gossip but mclaren might be helping the club as an advisor role. rhodes helped out past seasons regarding business needs so could well be true regarding football issues with mclaren.
