The Stevenage defenders from free kicks lined up holding hands at arms length to make a barrier players could not run through, Is this legal or is it obstruction? First time have seen this but Stevenage used it all the time from set pieces,

I wondered that as well? They were impeding free movement unfairly in my view?

They definitely were. Didn't it say on the commentary that this was the refs first game at this level - maybe a more experienced one wouldn't have let them get away with it.

Lucky it didn't end with Vaughan being sent off. He was getting angry about it. Tangled with one of their players at one point in an incident that could have been seen as him kicking out.

I know what you mean. But it would have been unfair to dismiss him for kicking out, he was clearly frustrated by the tactic, but I think the defender was giving as much as he got in the instance your referring too.

If this becomes a regular occurrence, I would imagine it gets stamped out fairly quickly.. as it's obstruction before a ball is even played.

I'd put it alongside putting the ball up your shirt or sitting on a team mate's shoulders at a corner in terms of miscellaneous conduct that constitutes a breach of fair play.

Surely it must have also impeded their movement as well if they were holding hands till the last minute before the free kick/corner kick was taken, another peice of football gamesmenship we wil have to work around.
Maybe if we see this tatic being used again the player taking the kick should run up as if taking it and stop at the minute of delivery.

Did they let go when the free kick, corner, was taken?

Would definitely have run straight into their arms and gone down if I’d have been playing, obstruction all day long.

Well if they were holding hands at our first corner of the match, it wasnt very effective then

We were doing it in the home game with Cambridge. I presume it's to with holding a line and making an offside easier to spot. Anyone standing in an offside position before the kick is taken ,like many do, would find it very difficult to get back onside without covering the width of the back trying to do so

I wondered if they were exploiting the new 'no attacking players in the defending wall' rule?

If they are linked together are they therefore not in a 'wall' meaning no attackers can go near them?

If an attacker was to run into the joined arms would it be classed as obstruction?

Could our players form a ring around their wall, then all hold hands so they can't get out. Free kick taker passes it to Scannell, who walks it in to the net.

He clearly stamped. Lashing out in that way, even with provacation is always risky. Doubly so when on a yellow card. I think he got away with one tbh.
