He's right in that expectations need to be lowered - as I said, stop letting fans believe we're gonna be up there going for promotion when in reality you're giving whoever the new manager will be a mid table at best budget and will be looking to sell the only player in the team worth any money right now (Wyke)

as I said before, on here, if he just came out and said look we need to live within our means, we've seen a drop in ST's off the back of last season, we're putting work into the pitch that's needed doing for many years, we can afford to carry a sensible debt but not an outrageous one and we aren't going to risk the future of the club, we are operating on a middle of league 1 budget, but if everyone from the fans, to the players, to the coaching staff to the owners stick together and are commited to achieve together then who knows what might happen. and cite Burton and Shrews as examples.

i'd respect that and I think a lot of people currently queuing up to burn him at the stake would aswell.

There is another way to look at what Grayson has said....He's mentioned the budget and i personally think his take on our squad is that 3/4 of it isn't good enough. I don't think thats being an ego maniac, i think he's basically said he can't work with what we've got and we obviously can't afford to start again. The way i look at this squad i agree with him. A "good manager" just might have the same problems.

Every supporter hopes for a successful season, its quite natural, i don't think you can lower it. They've already said we're going to live within our means but i will still start the season thinking we can do something. Its clubs like Leeds & Sunderland that have a real problem with high expectations

The trouble is I think it's becoming clear that Rahic is not just hoping for, but EXPECTING whoever the manager is to deliver a promotion, but only providing a mid table budget to achieve it, and with even the contracted players largely not good enough, it's just not realistic.

It's been mentioned that our budget is going to be similar to McCall's, does that include the fees we payed too? If it is then there's no reason why we can't be competitive next season if we use the money wisely. Given the calibre of players we brought in last season if it's our wage budget which is going to be similar we're well and truly fûcked.

Our budget is currently average L1 side because in all honestly that is what we are and history has proven us to be a small, lower league club. Out of the last 50 years we have spent just 13 seasons outside L1 & L2.

There is a huge sense of entitlement and inflated ego around City supporters since we started getting 18,000 crowds in L1. Face facts - it is down to cheap tickets and nothing else.

Lets be fair @Ricc@Ricc after last season maybe the owners thought this season would be a breeze, and again it looked very much like it was going to be until December :(.

The thing is..... I don't own a football club & have no experience of running a club (other than Championship Manager) so have no idea what a 'good' budget is (or a bad one for that matter) & although people can throw figures around on here & support them if they can find other clubs figures but in reality none of us know the extent of Bradford City finances so cannot really comment; surely there has to be an understanding that the Board have a full view of this & whilst running the club in a safe & sustainable manner will set a budget appropriate to that?

On the other side I'd say £3k per week per player on a 25 man match day squad (average) so that's £3.9m there..... then lets go £1m for players over the two windows..... Income wise lets say 13000 season tickets at £169 so that's £2.197m plus pie sales £500k at least! then..... o god I'm bored, I dunno just buy some decent players & a good manager then we'll all shut up!

Unfortunately we need to let wyke go. That will hopefully pay for the pitch.
He won’t sign a new deal for peanuts and I can’t see us going up next season. I don’t want to get nothing from him. I think he deserves a crack higher. He isn’t the youngest lad so shake hands and good luck mate.
I’m looking forward to seeing who we get rid of.
Hopefully we keep a fit McGowan and we can maybe squeeze another year out of killa. A fit Reeves would be nice.
Gone off subject lol sorry trying to cheer myself up and convince myself we will be ok haha
    Here’s hoping

Talking of budgets. I was reading the other day, that John Askey, manager of Macclesfield, got them promoted to the football league, on one of the lowest budgets in the National League, the players even went unpaid for a time in January, but somehow he managed to galvanise them and manage them to the league title. Just the kind of manager that would appeal to our owners!

The big question for me, there ............ Was Askey allowed to actually get on with the job he was employed to do, even if other issues appeared overbearing ? I suspect YES.
It came as no surprise that McCall did so well in season one - yet when his resignation was not forthcoming ...... season two proved to be so much tougher. ;)

if you look at results with Reeves int he squad and results without its clear we missed him a lot when he got inured

infact as soon as he started carrying a knock, (scunthorpe at home) back in December (we were leading, he went off injured and we lost) and since then the whole team was affected,
    the stats dont lie

hopefully hes back fresh and playing well for us, McGowan looked good in one game, but hopefully tat wasnt a one off, Jones needs to pull his finger out, whatever he is he cant be any worse than everyone else

as for Wyke, he only scores tap ins and everything else he does is too slow & slows the whole team down going forward everytime ive seen us play. id happily sell him for a million and get some faster strikers.

I'd add McCartan to the Jones fit, too. Infact ALL our strikers need to show their worth, this pre-season. I know so much is happening behind the scenes at the moment, but these blokes are packing their Summer Holiday carrier bags, and I hope they take time to reflect upon their own significant contributions to Citys failings.
Charlie for £1m ? I doubt any suitors will go beyond £500k.

Definitely, unfortunately Edin is almost an anagram of 'no idea' though
