I'm worried by Ramprakash's comment that some of our batsmen will fancy knocking these runs off. There is no way we are going to win this. Heads down and grind out the draw is our only chance, but do our players have the mentality to do that? I somehow doubt it.

 

We’ll lose comfortably without rain I think. Maybe all the arse licking of Strauss and Bailiss from the press will stop if we lose in our own back yard to one of the weaker Australia sides to come here in the last 30 years.

I'm fine with having Roy in at opener to play his natural attacking game in the first innings. But if he wants to be a test opener for long he has to learn to rein in his attacking instincts in a backs to the wall dogfight. Hit the bad ball, yes. But trying to knock Lyon out of the attack on a turning pitch with a 300+ lead isn't going to work, because they won't care if he concedes a few sixes to buy wickets.

 

Where’s a Michael Atherton and Jack Russell when you need them, no scrap or fight in this team I’m afraid. I’ll be home from work about half 4, have to probably find something else to watch.
