He scored bucket load of goals at youth level and did very well at a tournament that Man Utd borrowed him to play in so he obviously could hit a barn door, he just wasn't ready physically for league one football.

I don't think he got pelters, apart from the usual misfits who would give Ronaldo pelters. i think there was a lot of support for him

You are the perfect textbook example why we struggle to get youth players making the transistion from the youth team to first team regular. Patience and support are crucial for a player. We don't do this with new starters or young people at work so why should footballers be any different.

Nope, it's called taking an argument to it's extreme, and it's a test of the argument's viability and credibility.

It was silly for people to comment at the time and say McBurnie couldn't make it because he wasn't ready for first team football.

12 year old Wayne Rooney wasn't ready for first team football. He was when he was 16-17.

18 year old Oli McBurnie wasn't ready for first team football. He was when he was 21-22.

It's incredibly silly to judge teenagers on their ability in the first team when every other indicator (youth team and reserve team football, for example, combined with the expert analysis of staff at multiple top flight clubs) is telling you that there's a very good chance that player will develop into a class act.

So, therefore, saying he didn't score in his first 20 games is stupid at worst, and myopic at best. To retrospectively defend those stupid or myopic arguments NOW is bonkers. Time to accept that the opinion that McBurnie was unlikely to develop into a quality player was nonsense all along.

Omari Patrick is 23, he's not exactly young. In a few months he won't be eligible for anything other than first team football, as he'll be of senior age.

I watched him numerous times. He was very lightweight but as the song said he got knocked down and got up again!!! Heart of a lion. Would never have called 20 million yikes. I hope we have a sell on for kenworthy Sykes and Coalville if he goes lol Joke joke

I'm not sure anyone thought he was crap. Turns out Swansea's interest was a blessing in disguise for McBurnie, being held back with us could have put him back a year or two.

To be fair he has been out on loan anyway to lower league clubs to get experience

But with more of a plan to develop than we could give him. We weren't really in a position as a club to develop that talent and Parkys track record with young uns is hardly inspiring.

A lot of people said he'll not amount to anything. Simply because a 17 year old boy couldn't play punt football.

I’m not certain it will, but hopefully this allows Bowyer to bring one or two more in even if we can’t get rid of anyone.

    Suppose we’ll soon find out.

Has to give us the option at least. Not just in terms of budget but also revenue increase giving us more headroom within FFP

Yorkshire Post bloke said on Twitter the 2.5m will be spread over 12 monthly installs to us. Expected to cover the 2m debt from last season and go towards this seasons forecasted debt too given the big contracts signed last summer.
