If..Doyle goes big mistake

We need a quality left winger and midfielder more than we need Doyle

Its just a numbers game. If Akpan and Riley go then theres less need to sell Doyle. We dont have the luxury of retaining expensive players for cover when the first 11 still needs work.

He still missed chances that any renowned goal scorer really ought to be scoring. Not sure how anyone's responsible for that other than himself.

Let's not make excuses for him, he was poor last season.

 

Strikers miss chances, even the very best. Confidence is very important, not just quality.

Let's not write him off after just one season. Impatient fans are far too quick to do that.

 

Of course they all count the same, that isn't the point. The point is that a return of 7 goals from open play from your main striker for the whole season is poor.

 

I’m not sure we need to. Donaldson and Vaughan are more accomplished and have achieved more. I can see Doyle going and will be replaced by a quick pacey young lad on loan

 

I just don't agree with the obsession of defending his poor performances and deflecting the blame on anyone other than Doyle. Let's not make excuses for him, he was disappointing last season and I say that even when you account for external factors. I'm not saying he can't turn it around- he has a good track record and might be able to discover the form that made him successful in the past.

For what we'll get in return for moving on a high earning reserve player who may or may not come good though it's a no brainer. I'd much rather we got rid of Akpan instead but if we have to move on Doyle to strengthen in more urgent areas then so be it

 

Doyle was gash against Wigan-whether that was down to the team around him I don't know but he hasn't really hit his straps at City has he?

As for this notion he needs a good wide man to provide him with decent crosses, well Doyle has never stood out to me for winning headers anywhere, never mind in the box.

Personally even though I think he is a good player i dont think he suits our system well and needs to go. Saw him at wigan and don't think hed be suitable cover for donaldson or vaughan.

 

Doyle needs to play with a centre forward not as one. When playing with that big French guy who now plays for Blackpool Grandullet I think he scored lots

 

The fact that you have someone like Tony Mcmahon who would make a dreadful striker but is also a successful penalty taker tells you everything need to know. I'd even back O'Donnell to score more than he misses if he was on penalty duty next season. They are far easier than goals from open play and therefore have the potential to make someone appear far more accomplished in front of goal than they actually are, which Is why some choose to exclude them when it comes to assessing his credentials as a striker. If Doyle scored 15 goals next season and 10 of them were from the penalty spot I'd be delighted but wouldn't put him down as a great striker at the back it, just a guy who's good at taking penalties.

 

Doyle was poor last season.

About time some got over the fact his record has been okay at other clubs and started accounting for the performances we are getting from him.

He's no spring chicken, and doesn't seem to have any real desire or fight.

That account posts shite and they steal their rumours from elsewhere. They didn't break the news on James Vaughan, The Cows Arse did and they picked up on it when it started doing the rounds.

If Swindon Town are in the 'race' for Doyle, they must prefer the tortoise to the hare, because that rumour has been rattling on fir months, and they still have zero money.

 

If Blackpool still interested, lets test them by suggesting a swap for Jay Spearing
