Really? I love 'em, me. Not all the time but they make a nice change from regular chips, and they count as one of your five a day :)

Like a bit of sweet potato but can't eat them as fries. As allotment says they are too sweet for my liking.

Done well = decent, but there's too much potential for flacid disappointment...

Anyone been to or heard any reports about the new place in Birkenshaw yet?

Tried the Moorcock Inn last night with a group of 8 of us. We really enjoyed it. My favourite course was the garden salad with smoked trout and creme fraiche.
We went for the wine pairing - 1 was a beer.
The extra course of wild mushrooms with a roasted yeast sauce and confit egg yolk had a great Italian red with it but the name wasn't on the menu and I have forgotten. I liked it so much I am going to ask them.
We were too full for the extra cheese course so just finished off with coffee.
The food with the extra course was £47 a head, the drinks £34 a head plus the nice red whatever that was. Not a cheap meal but I thought it fair for the high quality of the cooking. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the service was tip top.
The bar menu looked fantastic but it is too far to trek for us when you can't book I think.

Possibly my favourite restaurant at the moment. Came away with two loaves of bread on the last visit.

That bar menu does look cracking, too.

Drove past it. Seems a strange move from the south coast to Birkenshaw

I was out in Lindley yesterday with my Mum. Plenty going on. It’s changed a lot since I lived up there 10 years ago...Had a sandwich in the Lindley Taps, nice atmosphere and service...Popped into the Manor House for half, a bit too posh for me, though there was plenty of folk having afternoon tea and such, someone’s spent a few hundred grand doing that place up.
