It doesn't matter what the budget is it's the right kind of players who work together as team that's important. Look at the budgets at Bury and MK dons , they brought in players on big wages and they were relegated . It's ok bringing in a 20 goal a season striker on big money and then don't have the players around him that can supply him.Shrewsbury have a good manager who gets the best out of them and brought in players of good character that complemented the rest of the team. Parkinson was the same regarding character and wouldn't go for someone who would be a bad egg and if they started to show ill discipline he got shut of them like he did with Cole. A good manager is what's needed and not some big ego maniac like Grayson.

If Charlie starts the season well goal scoring he will have 6 months left on his contract I'm not sure we'll get £500,000 or anything near, we will be hawking his name around this closed season without doubt, if as some are saying he's not for signing an extension.

Sounds logical as Grayson was very protective of Taylor when commenting on him, he obviously knew the lad had problems.

    We agree.

A small squad of first team-ready talent is the only way.

Its not to say they will all work out perfectly, but we cannot afford players we know wont be ready.

There's no excuse, there is plenty of available players out of contract to muster a decent first squad. Then you can start to think about development player but not before.

Warnock Taylor lund Guy Gillead and pybus ok not on alot but gone.

McMahon Deing Law Radear sattelmaier and Doyle and young gibson again not on alot but out of contract.

Then there is some of the younger lads I presume too.
We are looking at 9/10 to come in minimum and that maybe more should any of the contracted players move on. Big summer ahead and if the budget is like for like as last season we will end up as a mid table team again.

Grayson spouting off again in T&A about budget not being good enough to sustain a bid for promotion. We should own our own training ground. He further goes on to say that the vacancy is an attractive proposition for a certain type of manager, but of course not for Mr ' I'm better than league 1' Grayson.
We all get that but I've heard enough from him now. He's gone, we move on

He needs to keep quiet now, we have heard enough. He keeps changing his mind as to why he has left.

He makes very valid points though. Why is he having to say these things?

Why isn't the club setting expectations by saying '6th would be a very good season, the aim is to get 4 young kids into the team regularly and have a good cup run'.

he's almost revelling in rubbing our noses in the brown stuff. We know you didn't want to be here from the beginning Simon, any chance you can leave us to wallow in self pity now. That said his comments have to be listened to. It's time the owners gave us some positive news, sick to the back teeth of all this negativity now. Have they not heard of PR? Well after that fans forum debacle i guess not.

Grayson has gone and I agree he should now keep quiet but I suppose from his point of view he is trying to explain to the fans what the board need to do regardless of his short stay at VP he is no fool and knows what's required at this level.

I agree, I feel humiliated to have ppl from outside come in and talk about our club like that. However, he is unrealistic ‘you would have thought that Bradford City down the line with cup runs, premiership status could have found the money to purchase their own training ground’ Simon grow up, we were too busy trying to stop the inland revenue from forclosing on our club to worry about the training ground!!

Mid table maybe a bit ambitious for next season.we would have been relegated on the last 20 games of which we amassed a miserable 15 points. Lets face it, the reality is these guys havn't got a clue how to run a football club.

I’d rather hear from Grayson. It’s of interest to know why a manager turns down a 2 year contract to become unemployed with no guarantee of another job. He has heard the owners expectations and he is letting them and us know that his experience tells him it’s unlikely to work. A bit of honesty and realism is needed. It’s always the hope that kills you. He clearly thinks the owners want what’s best but are not being realistic. He also knows there is a bridge to build between the owners and the fans and on the present course it’s likely to get even worse.

The training ground comments come across clumsy but again it’s advice from an experienced manager who believes it should be addressed long term. We appear to have a long term strategy with expectations of early success? It just does n’t add up. He is the only one pointing it out. So far it’s working. Many of us are already lowering our expectations. Him speaking may benefit our owners in the months ahead because they just don’t seem to understand PR.
