Having said that, we must have offered Wyke a fair deal, and he was a known quantity?

would be a few of my choices if we were able too get them without being outpriced

 

Bring in Leigh and Mellor to play alongside McGowan and Killgallon and there's our back 4 sorted.

 

I'd look to offload Kilgallon and NKP.

I wouldn't be fussed about Leigh, but we wanted Mellor all along and he's a big lad, which we lack for a prospective long ball side.

McGowan and Mellor looks like half of a defence. I'd rather punt on a random player like Sowunmi than piss around with another season of our worst ever centre back pairing.

 

Never got the love-in for Leigh to be honest. We need to be aiming for higher standards than him

 

I think he would have stayed if it hadn't been Meredith he had to challenge for the shirt.

What's really embarrassing for Killa/NKP is they conceded only one less than our relegation season; and in 2010-11, when we conceded 4 more, there wasn't a consistent centre back pairing at all.

They're an absolute joke first choice pairing.

It has been our worst defensive unit for a long time. As park said injuries haven't helped but we have looked shambolic at various parts of this season, NKP in particular has been playing with lead boots on for most of this season.

 

Leigh can do a job and looks to have potential. You don't need a team full of 11 superstars to compete, just 4 or 5 players who can make a difference. Mcgowan and Mellor would be our big name signings at the back. Bring in a quality attacking mid and pacy winger alongside a quality striker to play with Wyke and all of a sudden we have a good team.

 

Has anybody actually seen Greg Leigh play in the last couple of years or followed his progress?

I posted earlier saying Greg Leigh is poor defensively but good going forward and it was his 2 mistakes that lead to our goals against Bury at VP. We can do a lot better than him and Chicksen and it's a shame Warnock has retired because he could do another season.

 

I'd agree with that. I'd have Leigh back because he's better than Chicksen and on a free. I think any better than those two would cost a bit more than we'd be willing to pay for a LB

 

Sorry Park....but i've been going a long time and i'm struggling to find a worst pairing. I have to agree i really hope Killa NKP & Vincalot are off loaded and that's where i'd start to rebuild.

I liked the look of Upson at MK.
