Jon McLaughlin ?, I thought he was as good as any other keeper we've had bar Pickford, I know Phil Parkinson was not big on paying money for keepers but he did a good job at Valley Parade and has improved since at Burton, Hearts and Sunderland.

You see Dave I was never a huge fan of Jon mc at the time . But looking back I may I have been a bit unfair . He’s gone on to have a decent career so fair play to the lad.Was it stuart who signed him or parky ?

Who would the keeper be in everyone’s city best eleven ever ?

Stuart I believe brought him in from Harrogate Railway.

Seen some good keepers over the years and we all have our favorites, Mark Schwarzer didn't stay long enough to form an opinion but his career suggests he was a very good keeper elsewhere in the Premier League, Peter Downsborough was a class act he had his best years at Halifax and Swindon but still showed us he could still keep goal in his 200+ games with us, Matt Clarke was a good keeper, but I would have to pick Gary Walsh as my number one.

 

Seen a fair few keepers in my time ranging from good to abysmal Pat Linney was always ultra reliable Johnny Mac will be remembered for his part in the history makers Eric McManus until he was savaged at Hull are all worth a shout but Mr consistent Peter Downsborough has to be the best in recent times

 

And mine....................................honest.

 

Peter Downsborough would be the first name on my City best 11. My first City hero. Mind you he got a lot of practice as we were bloody awful at that time.

 

Matt Clarke was consistently brilliant, so he'd get my nod for "best" but I loved Paul Tomlinson growing up so he'd get my nod for favourite.

 

When Pat Liney played in goal for us when we were on top you could hear him singing to himself warming his vocal cords up for his cabaret act at the local Working Men's Clubs on a Saturday night .

 

I’ve never heard of peter downsborugh What year’s was he ? I think it was Tomo and gavin ward when I first went to VP
