I am a bit late to the discussion, having recovered from arriving home at 1.55 am. I think it is worth recording that Mellor has reason to be grateful to Ruddock. Just before the end of the match they had a coming together in a strong challenge on both sides. The ref seemed to be reaching for a card for Mellor but Ruddock leapt to his feet and persuaded the ref there was nothing in it. No card produced. Good sportsmanship and a marked contrast to some of the antics from Oxford on Saturday.

Luton looked a tidy well organised team - good movement and passing with players comfortable with each other. Everything we are not - lack of player availability meant the defence had never played together and it showed. Best forgotten and move on to Saturday.

A mention for some of our "support". I appreciate gallows humour might be the order of the day, but chanting "We're shit and we know we are" as the players walk on to the field is pretty negative and unhelpful. Ditto, "You're nothing special, we lose every week", also factually incorrect. If you are going to be bothered travelling to Luton on very damp Tuesday night, at least support the team. And don't stand up on the front row when seating is unreserved. Bloody rude.

 

Plenty of seats in the next block down near the front. Having spent 3.5 hours getting down and similar back, I for one was happy to stand. The “standers” have been congregating at the front at most away games this season, don’t honestly see why it’s such a big deal when there’s plenty of seats to sit in, in other blocks, but anything for a moan.

The backing given the circumstances was tremendous in the main as well. Can’t say I heard them singing “were shit and we know we are” as the players entered the pitch either, the support was loud and encouraging until we shipped 3 goals in 10-15 minutes, then it became understandably cynical given the circumstances.

 

We were further along in one of the blocks to the side, but our view of nearly everything in front of the goal and to the right of it was obscured by those standing at the front. There was plenty of room for you to stand at the back. You might have been happy to stand, but I bet you won't be when you become elderly or infirm in any way. You don't stop wanting to follow City as you grow older.

 

Might they be the "fans" who thought it was a good idea to verbally abuse Jim White? who might be useful in spreading the word.

Getting well beaten by Luton shouldn't be a damming prognosis for our survival.

All the difficulties in being able to continue improving were there for all to see.Their home form and goal scoring and our ability to maximise that threat by losing our two main defenders. You can't predict this continual bad luck except to say we are our own worst enemies.

When will players realise they can't keep letting lack of discipline cause more difficulties.Refs are going to get things wrong given half a chance but some of our troubles are self inflicted.

My main concern is the Jan window will not provide the quality signings we desperately need.Players want to join a club with a chance of success,not relegation,which would be bad for their CV.

All in all,something really impressive needs to happen and in that context are we going to be bought by someone or a consortium?
Someone on woap says Talksport say there's some big news due from City in the next few weeks.

I'll wait with knuckles clenched......

There seems to be a number of people who deliberately listen to Talksport so they can be irritated by that very listening. Don't mind it myself, Hawksbee and Jacobs are a great listen.

 

I have to declare an interest here, I do have a friend who works for them, known him years. Hawksbee & Jacobs always worth a listen. Danny Kelly excellent, however never turn it on before 10am to avoid Alan Brazil.

 

Danny Kelly has been radio royalty for years. One of those presenters you never tire of listening to. Two mikes are a good listen as well.

 

Hawksbee and Jacobs are by far the best listen.. the rest I can do without.. Stopped listening to it as the only show I like H&J is on whilst I'm at work, Colin Murray was also decent talked about more than just the PL, that slot has now just become another show all about the premier league

 

Danny Kelly talks too much for me.. (and yes I get it's radio) but he just cuts off his guests all the time and asks questions without waiting for the answer.

 

Can't listen all day as each show just repeats the same stories. Was better years ago when it wasn't just sport all day.

 

The two Mikes are a pair of tits with nothing constructive to say. One nearly got sacked the other week for outing Jim White as an alcoholic and the other this week has taken the piss out of Sunderland for being a city with a very low household income. They are terrible presenters and represent everything that is wrong with TalkSport.

Exactly the reason i like them. His piss taking of Sunderland was tongue in cheek to gauge a reaction. anyone getting upset by that needs to grow a pair. If he said that about Bradford i would completely agree with him.

 

I haven't listened since my last job (early starts) .I found Brazil OK until he started giving his political opinion on things.
Is that dick Adrian Durham still on there he must be the biggest revenue earner for Talk Sport alway controversial and when someone got the better of him he put the phone down on them.

 

Durham does exactly what's wanted, and does it well.

 

You clearly didnt understand the context of the tweet then. He has had an issue with Sunderland as a leave city ever since the vote. Says a lot about you that you agree with that kind of thing.
