So @JonButterfield@JonButterfield you was held to ransom by the club?

I just don't understand how a flyover would not result in Henry signing. It's really hard to understand how a flyover would financially damage the club. In fact, I would not be surprised that Henry's signing coincided with our progress to round 2 of the FA Cup....

However, as you say the pressure was ramped up this morning suggesting ER was on the way out. So a condition, outlined to you by citysince67 or the club directly? Play ball or else?

Look Jon, I applaud your honesty and respect your decision and superb efforts in organising the initial idea. For the record, I would like to see the evidence you was presented with.

As for the monies, simply split across the two charities. Both very worthy.

Thank you for this post Jon. All the best.

I thought we as fans, and yourself especially, know that under this regime we can’t trust anything unless it’s concrete.

Was under the impression that the flyover was partly/primarily based on a R&R constantly feeding us bollocks over 3 years and generally being untrustworthy with regards to taking our club forward or even maintaining our current position on the league pyramid.

Cancelling the protest on the back of words and promises surely contradicts the whole point of the protest?

If I did indeed cancel the flyover on false pretences, this forum will be the first to know.

The protests will probably be louder and more obvious than the flyover, I'd like to believe, anyway.

But for now, I'm behind the club that looks to me to genuinely be trying to turn a corner and attempting to rebuild bridges between club and fans. Rhodes in, Rahic out. Hopkin in full control of transfers and decisions.

I'm not opposed to future action, but today was the wrong day in my mind.

I don’t see how he was held to ransom?? He could have said no I don’t want a refund and do the fly over.. he chose not to and has ensured everyone gets their money back. It’s hardly being held to ransom

I agree Jon. The future, building bridges. Looking forward.

But I can't help but being suspicious based on yesteryear events. But I will try.

Until we see the info from this morning, we can't say.

On the face of it, the club bought our silence.

    I'm with you.

I'll tell you this, the decision I made to phone Air Ads and cancel last minute was incredibly stressful. I had rejected the cancellation multiple times because I knew it's not my money, I can't just do what I want with it, people paid in good faith for a flyover protest, and I fully intended to see it realised.

Some people might be better at dealing with those choices than me, but it put me through the ringer, sweat, pounding in my head, you name it - and all because it wasn't my choice to make, and because I had no way of discussing it with the contributors, no time to look for feedback, no possible way of understanding the outcomes or consequences - so I did what felt right, and fortunately I still think it feels right.

I'm taking everyone's opinions and input very seriously, believe me.

By the way, karl Henry is signed up until January, that doesn't look like a marquee signing to me.

More a short term loan deal, albeit an expensive one but if he provides our leaky defence some cover, he is worth it.

Plus, i mentioned it in another thread, wasn't rupp coming over in november for a couple of games?
He had better get a move on.

I am not particularly bothered about the money, it can go to charity. However, I would like to know what has been said to you that instigated the cancellation. I don’t think it is possible to have a sensible discussion on this open forum, as you can see their are those with their own agenda. What I don’t understand on any level is that you were not approached directly by the club ie Julian. They have known this was happening for some time, yet not until lunch time today were you approached by a member of Bingley Bantams and given information that instigated the cancellation.

I am not in anyway being critical of your decision to cancel and support your decision, but I am concerned that the club is operating in this duplicitous fashion. If it was important to stop the flyover then the club should have come to you directly.

Sir, you may well be correct in your version of events. Jon had a very difficult decision to make, one im sure you would agree must have been very challenging.

I may be well wide of the mark, talking utter nonsense, but the maths don't add up.

    Fair enough mate.

You took on a lot of responsibility on your shoulders by doing this and put in a lot of time, which can only be applauded.

I also believe you’ve given a satisfactory public explanation as to why it didn’t go ahead.

Truth be told though, from what you’ve actually said, it 100% should have still gone ahead - the only thing that should have stopped it would have been an official club announcement stating that Edin Rahic has left the club. The fans have had enough of ifs, buts, maybes, promises that turned out to be bullshit and false statements etc.

It wouldn’t have damaged the club - it would have damaged Rupp & Rahic’s reputation and rightly so for the way they’ve run us into the ground.

As I said in conversation with @Plastic Bantam@Plastic Bantam , it must have been a very hard call. I am not being critical of yourself or your stance.

Apologies, if I have inferred otherwise

What utter nonsense you’re all making it sound seedy.. if Jon has any doubt he was getting hoodwinked he’d just say stuff ya the plane is flying.. what does he care who’s feelings he hurts certainly not the owners..

Clearly all that’s happened is they’ve said if you cancel it we’ll refund it so no one is out of pocket

You're right, I wasn't bullied into any decision, nobody has acted out of turn here.

I was offered a full refund on the basis that cancelling the flyover had genuine financial implications, and on that basis my thinking was the club needs all the finance it can get, and the flyover can still take place in two weeks time if people aren't satisfied.

Air Ads, incidentally, are more than happy to continue to deal with us.

But yes, nobody acted out of line - nobody.

It was a discussion and a decision borne of that discussion.
