Aldershot replay

Didn't we beat Spurs with a Brian Mitchell goal in the late 80s? Only thirty years ago...

Will Paul Caddis be ineligible for this game as he was signed after the away match at Aldershot?

 

Doubt it ......... He's not 'cup tied', unless the rules have changed ?

 

We had some good cup runs/performances in the mid 90s. Remember Norwich City (albeit losing over 2 legs admittedly against one of the very top english teams at the time), Forest, Everton. And of course in the 80s too, but before my time. Generally though we’ve not done much, we’ve been a lower league side though so it’s to be expected overall, but have caused our fair share of upsets along the way before the Parky era.

 

I believe you have to sign a player before the round starts as replays are classed as an extension of the first round. Therefore if we play Caddis we will be kicked out for fielding an ineligible player. He would be eligible for the 2nd round though as he is not cup tied.

 

So he WILL be playing at Peterborough again in the very near future!

I have happy memories of Norwich away. Remember setting off from the Bod, Manchester road with Patsy's Executive Travel in 1976 to see a brilliant victory and then flew down for the 93 game with the players ( special offer of £119 ).

 

Yep, like many others i made the 90s away cup game (and some decent wins there later, recall a 4-1, win was it?). The 2-1 at VP was brilliant, kip packed. It was a cracking atmosphere that night at Carrow Rd too, shame we lost 3-0 but we held them for probably 3/4 of that tie until i seem to remember, until they got the break through. BLUE ARMY!

Who remembers the 2 games vs Sheff Wednesday 94/95 season when Wednesday were a strong side. Carl Shutt put us a goal up in the 1st leg in front of a packed Leppings Lane upper tier cue 4,500 city fans going ape shit. We lost 2-1 in the end and then drew the 2nd leg 1-1, John Taylor scoring in front of a packed kop which had a right surge when he scored, ended up being squashed against the crush barrier. Same night my brothers car got broken into parked on cape street. G reg Ford Escort with a radio worth about £10

 

That away one we were all singing “francis how’s yer car?!” .... i’m still not sure the exact truth behind that song. that was another good cup following good shout Tyneside, proper atmosphere. The forest two leg win was really good too, 3-2 at home, 2-2 away, Sticks’ last gasp header at the City Ground, we went absolutely mental

 

I’d forgotten about that, seem to remember some city ointment attacked his car outside the ground.

As for Forest, that cross by Jacobs for Sticks to head home was tremendous. On the TV footage as the players are celebrating in front of the city fans you can clearly see me and my dad #starsofoldcitygoalsonyoutube
