I have no evidence. It was just a hypothetical.

I do believe there's interest though. Not necessarily from all of those named, but if the club were on the market, I think there'd be takers.

Fair enough, but I suppose what I am saying is that in this situation there are two separate but interrelated issues.
    • The current owners have to agree to sell the club.
    • There has to be a viable alternative purchaser(s)).
As far as I am aware neither is likely to occur in the near future.

My big concern about attempting to destabilise the current owners and ‘get rid of them at any price’, could see us following the paths of Stockport County or Darlington, who are now in the Conference North. Do we really want that?

I’ll be honest, left unchecked I think that’s exactly where R&R will take us.

I think the biggest blocker is the first point; partly because I do believe there’s a level of interest around the second point. That’s why I believe the imperative has to be to force a sale, or at least drive a level of willingness to sell and enhance awareness of the club being ‘on the market’ to attract possible interest.

Like we're anything like Stockport or Darlington.

Have you been to those clubs?

    We're infinitely more attractive

Look John they may well be extreme examples, but the National Conference is littered with former League teams.
    • Leyton Orient
    • Wrexham
    • Hartlepool
    • Barnet
    • Halifax Town
    • Aldershot
    • Chesterfield
Further down the pile are more former League teams.
    • Chester
    • Torquay United
    • Workington Town (Northern Premier)
    • Even Bradford Park Avenue!!
Once you get sucked down, then it is difficult to get back up the greasy pole!

Be very very careful when you start playing with fire!

You know I am dreadfully dissatisfied with the current owners and what they have and are doing to our club. However I still think holding them to account, rather than advocating extreme action with potential catastrophic results is sensible.

Not my preferred option because I’d like them to sell but the best solution would be for the current owners to admit defeat, step back and appoint professionals to run the club. They need to put money in to protect their investment. Even they must know they have royally fecked up. Everything we know about Rahic makes that sound unlikely but if he did it could still work for him. What we need to hear is Rahic publicly stating he will back Hopkin in the January window. Failure to signal a change in January will result in real attendances of 7 or 8k fans for the remainder of this season.

I used to work at Stockport County, then I lost my job when they got relegation from the football league.

On match days against us I used to use my staff pass and head into the away section. :grinning::grinning:

I don't think we'll end up like Stockport County though, we're to big too end up like that.

I remember us singing songs about one of our stands being bigger than their whole ground.

    Yes mate.

Away support are the serious supporters now plus some others.

Most of the home support just want to get out of the house on a Saturday. Not serious about the enough and happy to watch the club go to the wall.

I remember well if we got 5k for a home game it was considered a good attendance.I remember crowds a lot lower than that which was the norm back in the early Sixties when we we had to apply for 're-election to the league.Dark days indeed!

For me it's always been about if's and but's, under the present regime. However, IF Hopkin get's his targets in January, whose to say that won't bring about a change in our fortunes? After all, it boils down to another rebuild...surely it has to be from a different perspective and infinitely better than previous.

I guess we have to look at it from an objective view. Who can we sign in January 2019?
    • Given the current wage structure, apparently based heavily on performance related pay, who will want to sign for a club, which if it keeps losing will get paid a low figure.
    • Who wants to come to a team which may still be in the bottom four.
    • If the supporters abandon the club/create a toxic atmosphere who wants to play for City.
    • Goodness knows what it must be like in the dressing room if Hopkin is threatening to drop some of the so called ‘Senior Professionals’.
A lot of ‘ifs & buts’!

Good points and relative..but what alternative is there? Either we go with those who think that the Owners want to remould us from a lower division or we believe they will redeem themselves in the January transfer window by availing DH of what he needs to turn us around. Just trying to avoid seeing things from a negative perspective, because it's painful to say the least.
