Theoretically, is GA going anywhere?

Get all that but how long do they wait ???
Unless this takeover is happening soon then they must do something

 

Graham is a very pragmatic manager who, I think, will realise the vast approach difference when managing high cost 'elite' players in the top two divisions, compared to less technically gifted, physical players in the lower divisions. He may be tempted by the financial benefits of the Preston job but he will know that it's a gamble on his credibility long term.
His management style is heavily dictated by physical attrition, second balls, a solid defensive back line and minimizing errors under pressure. We see this in every game we have played in this league. I think he would struggle managing a championship team that plays out from the back, has skillful, pacey midfielders and dynamic forwards. He could, of course, try to implement his current game plan on the current Preston team but that would be a massive change of mindset for players who have not experienced it.
Can he manage a tippy tappy championship team? I'm not sure he could adapt and could fail spectacularly, especially at a club undergoing turmoil. If they got relegated and they sacked him straight away or half way through the following season if they struggle in league 1, he would leave with a load of money but with a big failure on his resume.
Like I said at the top, he's pragmatic and he'll have all scenarios going through his mind including 'is it best to stay and finish what I've started at Bradford City or should I take the money and gamble that in 2 seasons time I could be managing Tranmere in league 2'

He's loved by the fans for what he did for them as a player but there doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm from them about his possible return as a manager. There's a poll on their forum which has been reset this morning to take into account a few new names that have come up over the weekend but up to yesterday before it was reset out of 276 fans that voted, 268 of them did not want GA to be their next manager.

 

Maybe they simply don't want his legacy tarnishing something we tended to do on how many occasions?????
I get that his football ain't the best and maybe they are after a more better passing style of play .............. but the bigger picture is that they need to stay in that league and me personally think he is right for the job of doing that and keeping them solid .

2-0 up against 10 men on Saturday and still only drew.
Looks to me that they are a soft touch and need someone in to make them a lot harder to beat.

 

If I was Alexander I'd stay put, in this day and age long term success as a football manager is extremely rare and a part of that is reliant on the club being solid. He's onto a good thing here and might as well ride the wave as long as possible. Go to PNE and there is every chance he is out of work in Feb.

 

There is a Preston fan who comes on another forum for naturals. He said, having watched Bradford a number of times, I've no idea how they keep winning, as they look crap and he has said that he doesn't think Alexander is up to the job. He is well thought og there, but he's not Stuart McCall here; he's not one of, if not the, there-all-time fans' favourites. Just someone who gave 7 years of good service. People are acting like him going there is like McCall (for the first time) or Bobby Campbell coming to manage us, it is more like a Stephen Derby or Gary Jones. Well respected, but it is nothing to do with legacy. His style of football isn't really respected at the championship level, similar to Parky's. That and the supposed high realise clause, I just don't see how they go for him.

 

I'd only really be concerned that this was likely to happen if their fans were clamouring for him and the board thought they could get them onside by making a popular appointment of a "legend".

As they aren't, I think all the points made about style and fit make it unlikely he will be their choice. As a professional, testing himself at a higher level would of course be tempting for him, especially given the links, hence no outright denial of interest (not to mention leverage it gives him in terms of potential new contract talks).

 

I think Burnley is a bigger risk

 

Just tell him we keep winning because we score and then don't concede ........... I bet they would rip there hands of to be like that wouldn't they let me guess they love nice amazing tippy football which results in big beating or fooking up a 2-0 lead against 10 men.

I tell you now that should they get a so called football man in and that fooks up there fanbase will moan about getting a man in who would have steadied the ship

 

All this has made me think Preston fans are deluded and think they should be top of the Champ.

They'd be lucky to have GA.

 

He might be minted and not need the money.

 

From what I've seen of Preston's team it'll take a lot for them to start winning, let alone keep winning. For me they are doomed.

 

No chance Burnley come in for him, if Burnley part ways with Hayen then they will want top profile name to takeover as they want to be back in the premier league asap.

As I said yesterday I was speaking with someone who I know very well and is massively in the know at Burnley. Alexander name wouldn't come in to the equation for them and Preston aren't prepared to pay the release clause fee.

I wouldn't be surprised if Burnley were to go back in for Steven Gerrard if the managers became vacant.

 

I suppose if you keep rolling the dice, Gerrad will come good again, bearing in mind Rangers had little competition back in his time there.

 

I don't. They have delusions of grandeur. Their owner thinks he knows it all too. I'd say if the odds on him going to PNE were 5/1 then Burnley would be 500/1
