    Apparently so. But there will be a lot of water stll to flow under the bridge. Given PNE's current position, relegation would have a serious effect on the deal. They need somebody in there who can make an immediate impact. I have my doubts that GA would suit their needs.

    Does anyone actually know how much the release clause is as I have been speaking to someone who is in the know at Burnley and seems to think it's £1.2m. They seem to think Preston won't pay that and Burnley wouldn't be interested in Alexander if they parted ways with their manager.

    I would like to see Cleverley get the gig. Disrupt Plymouth a bit, who are looking good.

    Turning that round a bit. If GA did leave, I would like to see us approach Plymouth to talk to Cleverley for ourselves

    Hope GA will see them flip flopping into a week nearly of looking for a manager and seeing some of those names mentioned....PNE don't know their rear from their pointy bit of their arm.
    He is clearly the man for the job. His impact at city is far beyond anything any of those other names could get close to.
    The fact they haven't gone for him and bagged him already is great for us and hopefully alarm bells for GA.

    That said a big bag of cash...and that dreaded, bottom of league 1 outcome, M62 commute might say otherwise. But it's not exactly a great sign for GA. Robbie Keane? Lol.

    In England no. But Keane has won leagues and cups in Isreal and Hungary (his only 2 jobs) and Gerrard of course Scotland.

    Keep them solid and more importantly keep them up sorry but GA is the perfect candidate.............Preston are in bother and I bet sll there fanbase would take a no thrills campaign so long as they stay up

    GA currently has a contract until the end of the 2027/28 season. I would honestly give him another extension, even now.

    You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. He’s been absolutely fantastic for Bradford City. Make it a 5 year deal.

    I disagree completely. GA takes a longer term view of football and prefers to build a squad, his squad, over time. That's brought him the success at VP. Given PNE's current position and the uncertainty driven by a potential new owner, PNE need a quick fix manager to come in at short notice and work with the current owners, the current squad, somebody else's squad, to get them focused solely on avoiding the drop. That doesn't sound like GA's skillset to me and that's before I mention his lack of managerial experience in the Championship. Maybe I'm just being hopeful but I believe GA will still be here long after he dust has settled at Deepdale.

    You think loyalty comes into it if Preston trebled his wages gave him serious money to spend with a far better set up ????
    Let's not forget that he's well thought of there unlike some of the loons that deem being 1st in league one is not good enough because we don't score enough

    Mark my words they come in for him and match City's offer he's off and I don't blame him because we all know that if we have a drop the loons at the club will turn i mean the booos after the Cambridge game just proves it

    Preston North End are apparently in the process of a takeover! When that happens, it is very likely that the new owners will have a view as to who will be ‘their’ manager.
    The pattern regularly seems to see a clean sweep! Unless Graham Alexander had got the team into a promotion winning position, it would be very likely that he would be dismissed.
    He is relatively secure at City. He could continue to build his reputation and, perhaps catch the eye of the new owners for the future (so it would be ‘their’ appointment).
    Unless he can get a four season contract, at dramatically higher money, with a full ‘pay off’ clause, and perhaps thinking about retiring from the game, then going to Preston at this stage would seem rather short sighted, and heavily risk laden.
