Even though I know it’s a WUM post, this is disgraceful comment about one of our players…….let alone highly inaccurate.

 

Hopeless balls to him yet we sit top of the league I ain't complaining

 

Always room for improvement. What happens when the goals dry up like last season?

 

Every player on the back post and not even reaching them fooking very weird tactics

 

If we actually sharpened up our passing it would be huge help

 

Nothing else to add except 8 wins out of 10 in all competitions.

 

Please tell me how much we have really created for him over how many games.

TBF.. he was one of their better players.

 

This is why no striker has scored plenty the way we set up these days . People won't like this but I have said it before when Cook got injured at Barrow it actually became a blessing in disguise as we changed our style to accomdate the squad not based on what Cook brought to the team. That's not knocking Cook far from it but we adapted and the rest is history.

We would all love a 20 plus goalscorer but under Alexander strikers have to work hard with how we play it's not just about goalscoring. Beesley not scoring won't be a concern to Alexander if he is doing the job he is asked to do and that's all that matters.

We're relying on clean sheets. I completely agree with everything else you've said but I'm sorry Beesley is bringing absolutely nothing to the table. I couldnt give a sh*t about how many goals he does or doesnt score but i want him to make some material difference to our attacking play. Our current position is purely down to our defensive efficiency. I think we are the 3rd lowest scorers in the division. I want Beesley to succeed but he shouldn't be taking any credit whatsoever for our current position.

Sure he will get goals but it ain't gonna anywhere the 20 goals our fans crave ............decked if he gets 10 but that probably what he's got most seasons anyhow.

 

I've literally spelt that out. My criticism of him has absolutely nothing to do with whether he scores goals or not. I'd be more than happy with a number 9 who hardly ever scores IF he was affecting the game in other ways. He has barely any material affect on our attacking play.

 

We must be an incredible team to sit top of the division when we're playing with 10 players every game if Beesley brings "absolutely nothing to the table". What you're saying is that if you, I or any fan was playing in his place or he spent every game sat in the centre circle we would still be top of the league.

Going into today's games Beesley is 10th in the league for aerial duels won and 3rd for strikers.

If he really was as bad as you make out Alexander wouldn't be starting him every game as we all know Alexander is very ruthless and if you don't do the job for the team or perform to the standards required you get dropped just as Sanderson, Cook, Mullin, Wheatley, Humphrys have found out.

I'm sure Alexander knows he can improve and he is included in the conversation that we need to be more clinical in the final 3rd but Alexander will also know he's doing a lot of good for the team including leading the press from the front.

 

If we could just pass a bit more we'd be making opposition keepers have more to do. Too many aimless kicks to Beesley. He has a thankless job at times.

 

He's going to keep him in the side until it becomes literally untenable. The fee we paid for him has necessitated that. It was always going to be the case. I'm not saying he does literally nothing but sit in the centre circle but if we're looking at a sliding scale between that and producing outstanding metrics across the board he's well below half way. Excuse my hyperbole but he's relatively ineffective.

Let's not pretend our league position is down to anything other than our freakishly effective defensive performances. That's a desperate stretch to put any of that on Beesley's account. I'm not buying the argument 'he must be ding something right because we are sat at the top of the league when it's blindingly obvious that our ability to completely shut teams out is the reason why we are there. If we had a goalkeeper who threw the ball into his own net 3 times a match but we were winning every game 4-3, it'd be madness to praise the goalkeeper for helping us get to the position we are in. For me this is exactly the same scenario in reverse.

As for 'leading the press' I'm sorry I'm not seeing that. If he was 'leading the press' with an ounce of the proficiency that any of our other attackers have since we've been in league one we'd have managed more than a paltry 7 goals this season.

How would you quantify his performances this season. I'd say 4/10 would be generous.

I think you've set your stall out on him very early and regardless of how little he produces from here on in, you won't budge.
