I remember big Nevs appearance like it was yesterday. I was with a group of lads going snowboarding in France and we touched down at lunchtime on the day of the game. Transfer. Check in. Shower and off to find the only bar in the alps with Sky Sports. We got there just as Bridges scored the second goal but it wasn’t that which made me groan, it was seeing who was picking the ball out of the net.

Don't get me wrong, he was way past it at that point but there were one or two glimpses of the talent that made him at one time, imo, the best in the world.

 

who is better to come on in case of injury Doyle who hasn’t played for a few years or Harry Barrow who turns 17 in February.

Good news — there’s a meaningful development that reduces the postponement risk.

Jamie Reid has not been selected in Northern Ireland’s final squad for the September/October Nations League matches. The Irish FA specifically confirms that Reid misses out and is only on the standby list.

That matters because Reid is a genuine Reading first-team player and senior Northern Ireland international, so he was another realistic route towards Reading reaching the EFL international-call-up threshold. Unless somebody withdraws and Reid is promoted from standby, he currently does not add to Reading’s qualifying absences.

The picture now looks better for your trip: Dorsett is confirmed away with Montserrat; Fraser is omitted by Canada; Reid is omitted by Northern Ireland; Rinomhota is selected by Zimbabwe but Zimbabwe’s fixtures finish on 28 September, five days before Bradford. I’ve found no new call-up for Charlie Savage or Paddy Lane that changes that picture.

Most importantly, Reading v Bradford City remains listed for Saturday 3 October at 15:00, while several other League One fixtures that weekend are already explicitly marked postponed. Reading–Bradford is not.

So this latest development moves things in the right direction: the postponement risk has decreased. Reid remains worth watching because of his standby status.

 

if anything Reid being on standby is the worst possible outcome. If he had been called up the game would be off. If he had been left out totally it would be on. Now it could be either right up to 5 days before depending on if someone else gets injured and drops out and he gets called up

 

Bad news in my opinion. I want the game postponed seeing as we are without McCracken and Touray. It would also give Baldwin and Neufville longer to recover from injuries

 

I’d normally agree, but as I’m planning to attend, then I want it on. Heart over head!

 

I can see our reserve keeper “getting injured” this week. It’ll be us who get it postponed due to lack of keeper.

 

Because they could have got injured this weekend, they could get injured during training, or they could get injured in the Georgia match.
