Theoretically, is GA going anywhere?

Burnley worry me more ...

 

Burnley and PNE are basket cases right now.

Only a really really stupid salary would tempt GA away. Or would it?

We have every chance of competing in the Championship sooner rather than later and I would imagine GA would like to be there with a team on and off the pitch who he knows inside and out.

 

I think Alexander is in his second year of the three year contract ( I could be wrong on that)but if I was City,I would be writing up another extention of a improved 2 year contract. Get in there first.

 

GA strikes me as a man of integrity. On that basis I don’t think he’s going anywhere.

Apparently he’s got a 7 figure release clause but who knows whether that’s true.

 

Im not knocking him, he did what was right for himself, but leaving Preston and signing for Burnley is far removed from integrity!

Like I said, not a knock....I just dont feel integrity is a factor when the career move and money is better. Its simple human nature.

If GA was failing, he would be gone. He isnt, and before long offers will come in. So works both ways IMO.

 

Some really proved how much we appreciate him and what he has done for us by booing a very rare home defeat the other week . Imagine losing a couple more , them clowns would be wanting him gone , never mind poached from higher up . Still can’t believe that happened to be honest .

 

Integrity only goes so far, if there's a job that interests him at a higher level that can further his career he would be mad to not even consider it. It's an extreme example but if Real Madrid came calling I'm sure he would take the job but what that does mean is there's jobs he would leave us for, the question is where is that bar for him.

I still think there's a chance he leaves or at least gets approached but if he does I would still expect him to go about it in a way that's fair to everyone, I don't expect he would look to force a move or threaten to quit over it.

 

Heard one or two say that when he signed his new deal, there was a release clause inserted. So on that basis, if that release clause is met, it is entirely up to him whether he goes or not. The only thing we can do is try to convince to him to stay and match whatever is on offer.

Worse case we are compensated a decent sum and we go out to market and force a move instead of shopping in the management scrap-heep (assuming nobody of note is available).

True - from a Burnley fan, GA is very very very well liked by their supporters. If it was down to fans, Burnley is the bigger flight risk, but, I think both would focus more on survival than L1 planning so will look for a more established Champ name or a foreigner. I don’t think our gaffer is going anywhere.

Yes I know where you’re coming from. Preston were offering him a 1 year contract whereas Burnley gave him 2 years.
