Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

I suspect he is one of many who have rejected us this summer and I get the impression GA is really frustrated about it all

Apparently his agent is seeking £15k a week wages for Collins, hence no club yet as a string of clubs have been chasing him.

 

It wouldnt surprise me if another club sign him up from under our noses

That's laughable if true, and does the player no favours whatsoever. Unless he fancies playing for Salford.

 

Issue is, last season we seemed to get down to bare bones quite early in the season at CB.

I would definitely rather have an experienced CB than a rookie, but if we do get lucky with injuries this season, yeah, I would also prefer the prospect.

Jobs are kept and lost on these kinds of decisions.

 

GA has given him a good run out in pre-season, so one must assume that he is our plans. It would be a bit frustrating now if he didn't sign and we are another player light in the squad.

 

Yeah maybe.

Perhaps still better to get a proper preseason than train with the PFA lot though.

If his agent is asking £15k per week, he needs to get a new agent, as currently he is earning zero and if those demands are true, he will be earning that for a good while yet. The new rules mean all clubs will have to tighten their belts without a vast increase in turnover or owner gifts

 

If his agent is that far off the mark, he's probably a family member.

GA is very very patient with him, would anyone else be so ?

 

It was obvious from GA’s previous interview that he thinks Nick Powell is a seriously class act for this division, who can do a very effective job for us if he stays fit - big if, obviously. Which is presumably why he’s being very patient with him.

 

The agent supposedly wanting £15k a week for Collins was reported earlier today by the Peterborough Telegraph journalist who covers Posh.

 

Every player will be asking the same.

They see former PL teams and big Champ teams coming down to league one and know they have players on high wages. They say "well, x is on £££ so my client deserves the same".

I believe the new financial rules for this season have had a bit more impact on transfers/signings than people were expecting. I think they assumed the inflation from previous seasons would carry on. Now it will be interesting to see if it holds to the end of the window or clubs lose their nerve a bit and get close to blowing the budget.

Perhaps the first couple of games of the season will have an impact as well. Few loses for a favourite or two may have an impact.

 

If Powell and Welch are signing then surely they would be announced before Saturday since pre-season is now over

 

With regards to Nick Powell, I have absolutely no doubt that a deal is being discussed, but it is probably based very much around availability given his injury problems. Obviously all players have a basic wage, but I would think it will be the other things that are being discussed... appearance bonuses, goal bonuses etc.

 

Going back to the supposed approach for Archie Collins a couple of weeks ago, if that was the case, it shows that GA is desperate for a bit of class to be added to the midfield area still, hopefully we can bring someone of note in, rather than make do with a squad filler.

 

I reckon a few people may become available for a fee closer to the end of the window. Clubs have probably said no for now but I can see some movement happening.
