I'll judge him on how positively he is contributing to us getting 3 points and to the team's goal output. It doesn't bother me at all if he's not scoring goals as long as he's involved in goals being scored.

He lunged in leading with the studs, you're not going to get away without a yellow card at least for a challenge like that.

 

I read a blog about Brentford's recruitment maybe 18/24 months ago and they look for certain characteristics in forwards, one of which is getting in the right place to score so chances come to them. They may miss a lot when young but the philosophy is that anyone can be taught how to shoot but it's hard to teach someone where to run and when, that's more instinct. So they value that and hope they eventually start scoring.

 

It was worse than the one last season which earned a red. I forgot who made that challenge. Looks like Connolly likes a tackle though

Marc Roberts on trial. Pushing it a bit at 36

 

I’m sorry but if we are freeing trials to 36 year olds we have lost the plot we might as well kept Kelly or tried to get Lunn I totally the team than some cart horse

 

Who has said we brought Roberts in with a view to signing him? Lunn came off the bench and played today so Roberts had no impact on him

 

Would like to see him given more minutes. It was hard to compare him on such little time. He showed good control, a few good interplays and passes but hard to tell on 15 minutes.

 

It's a tough one for youngsters as they are bottom of the pile for priority in terms of minutes, for me it would have been good for him to get 60 minutes against BPA on Tuesday knowing he was unlikely to get more than 20 minutes against Preston. I don't think he's done his chances any harm in the appearances from what I've seen and I don't think it's unrealistic that he could force his way onto the bench for an EFL Trophy game if he doesn't get a loan move as he's shown he can be versatile. Ironically the u19s start their league season next week away at Salford so if he's not in the squad against Rochdale I would expect he'll be getting some minutes with the u19s.
