Rodney has also played right back for the Palace kids, as well as defensive midfield.

I'd probably take the Sunderland lad rumour as rubbish, someone has probably seen that he's from Bradford and put 2+2 together and got 5. Beesley, Powell, Swann, Ibbotson and Humphreys if needed. It would be incredibly unfair on Ibbotson if this lad came in and pointless using someone else's academy prospect for a third choice, when we have our own.

GA said in his recent Jamie Raynor interview that he thinks we have enough up front, now that we have Beesley and Nick Powell seems to be fit and scoring. Swan has also done well so far. Remaining recruitment to focus on midfield and defensive cover.

Yeah he was released in May. Jab did say it was from John Hutchinson, always take with the biggest pinch of all time.

It used to be his position, I think? Alexander said he used him there at Fleetwood. It used to be a case of most teams playing with 1 number 10, but now a lot play with 2. I think he used to play deeper in a 3-man midfield at Stockport as well. I'm sure he's well used to that role. I did like Alexander's reasoning bringing up the successful partnership of Smallwood and Patto.

Possibly, but I think a keeper with faster reflexes going one-handed probably saves it. Put it another way, had he saved it I don't think it would be getting declared a worldie. I think part of his decline is due to his reflexes getting slower with age, as I said. For me he makes some shots look better than they are.

I think the hope that we were still going to bring in a CM of real quality has all about been quashed by GA's comments in the T&A this morning. Maybe Connelly and Sarc as first choice with Cartwright and an as yet unidentified freebie or loan as backup will be good enough, but it feels like quite a gamble to me.

As much as I rate sarcevic I think when he did drop in there last season we didn’t have any legs and got over run. I struggled to see Connolly playing that role when watching other night 2/3 times he had to pull someone back or make a foul because he couldn’t keep up. Happy to be proved wrong but to go from metcalfe & power to what we have now sees us much weaker in my opinion.

There were times when used in the two that he couldn't get into games, especially if teams pushed our wingbacks into our own half. I think he's more suited to being sat rather than asking him to press in a front three.

A fair shout, not much in the pace department with Connolly and Sarce and that was one of the problems with Power and Metcalfe.

Knowing us we'll end up with Devante Rodney. Although in an alternative universe you could have Rodney and uncle Albert Adomah in the same team, with us wanting Beesley to pull the trigger instead of being unselfish.

CM is worrying me, we are well stocked in other areas but surely we have the cash to go get someone of real quality?

The good thing with the PFA friendlies is that they are all aired on Youtube. Obviously there will be some scouts there, cant imagine many from the north will be travelling down to London to watch it, but with it being aired it gives the free agents a lot more eyes and scope. You'd imagine most clubs still with gaps in their team have an analyst or scout keeping eyes on these games from their laptops.

A part of me thinks Powell might be putting himself in the shop window and not solely relying on City giving him a contact. We've seen since he joined, there's been secrecy to the type and length of deal he's on. What if he's thinking, I'm fitter now and might get a better offer or more game time elsewhere. I don't think this is all one way in Bradfords favour.

I wonder if agents are basing their package demands based on previous seasons levels whereas this season it does seem like money is tighter around the leagues with the new financial rules. Perhaps we'll see players signing more (all clubs not just us) when they realise that clubs are less playing hard ball and more being a bit more constrained than previous seasons?

Its mainly him and Swan scoring goals so far so he has made a very strong case in my view!!
