This is Walker's biggest weakness all over. No confidence to come out and claim, stops halfway and caught in no mans land. Similar story at Halifax where again he has no command of his area. McCracken should start as number one.

GA has talked a few times about equalising match minutes through pre-season for example "they played 60 minutes today so we'll get another group to do 60 in the next match" so I'd be surprised if McCracken didn't play against Salford.

Anyone listened to GAs interview with Raynor?

He is bigging up Sarc as a CM. I mean he has played every friendly there so as predicted....

Sarc will miss a third of the season. Just his thing.

It could be. I'm getting Harry Lewis vibes from the whole situation. It must be harder for a keeper to get it back than with any other position on the field.

GA has admitted that summer recruitment has not gone as smoothly as last summer
and states we are still 3 or 4 players light.

Waiting for the right players has not been easy.

Simon Parker understands no deal agreed with Reece Welch yet, is he another who may end up pricing himself out of a move perhaps?

As we have all said despite supposedly being 95% done a few weeks ago we are several players light.

And TBF Idle I wouldn't read too much into what Parker knows on transfers many on here have heads up on stuff before he does.

The more i think about GAs words the other night in saying we are looking at loans and the PFA camp, it tells me we are going to go in for one of the experienced midfielders at the PFA. I just cant see us bringing in a 19-21 year old DM/CM on loan in case Connolly doesn't work out?

Unless we've been looking at it all wrong all summer and the partnership isn't Connolly & Cartwright, as Sarce has played midfield all summer so far. Maybe it's Connolly and Sarce in DM/CM and then Cartwright follows the Metcalfe path and by October/November he is starting in place of Connolly? My worry if we bring in a young DM on loan and Connolly doesn't grasp the midfield role, is that Sarce tends to miss at least a third of the season too, and we dont want to be in a position where the midfield is Carwright and a loanee who probably have less than 50 senior games between them for a spell.

Yes, I too reckon he has Sarce lined up for the Pattison type midfield role alongside the more defensive Connelly or Cartwright. No idea what his thoughts are for adding to squad now.

As soon as Phillips signed, I called it on here. There was no way we were having Phillips, Sarc and Jackson fight for one shirt. Not a chance.

Im pretty confident he makes him captain too.

I'm not surprised that we are seeing this as a tough window compared to last time. Feels like there's more money in L1 this season, maybe than ever before. We are now a name at this level compared to last year so we will be in more bidding contests surely?

Even if you are trying to recruit within an hour of our gaff, you have Huddersfield and Wednesday who will blow most clubs out the water with daft money. Even Salford in the league below would have a top end L1 budget this season seemingly and i bet York aren't far off. Peterborough are still the go-too for younger talent it seems. Leicester are a juggernaut financially, MK are spending like it's going out of fashion and those two probably take most the midlands based folks looking for a new L1 home. It would be tough trying to get someone to relocate from down south as Luton and Reading would probably be linked to similar names and could probably outspend us. Was easier last summer as we were under the radar, must be a nightmare this summer.

I think blaming him for the first one is harsh WB. There was some serious power in that strike and he was only 4 or 5 yards away.

He says 3 or 4 so confident Powell and Welch will be 2 of them. RWB and another CM look the ones after that.

Take it as a pinch of salt but John Hutchinson has name dropped a couple.

Tennai Watson currently with the PFA squad, right wing back, full seasons at MK Dons, Charlton and Barnsley.

Kaden Rodney defensive midfielder on loan from Palace.

Add Welch, Lewis and Powell into the equation and that would probably be business done.

Tennai Watson, Sam Morsy and a few others will be playing for the PFA today in a friendly against Fulhams academy, live on Youtube.

You would certainly think Powell has earned a new contract this summer. He seems to have coped with pre season training and amongst the goals in friendlies. Great option to challenge and cover Beasley.

I see we were linked with a young Sunderland striker on loan yesterday. Cannot see where a young striker would fit if we keep Swan and other options we have up front.
