After his stint in midfield he went into the back line and left to join Stockport...where he played in the back line.

 

With occasional games in midfield which according to him is his best position

 

I wasn't there last night and I do want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I've seen quite a few comments saying he looked like a CB playing in midfield, and also that he has the turning of an oil tanker.

 

Exactly what I was saying a couple of weeks when it was said we were 95% there. Everyone knows we are at least 3 short personally I still expect 4/5 new signings regardless if anyone leaves.


My concern with the loan market is who was the last player we had who played regularly was it Cook, if so our loan recruitment hasn't been great in the last few years and definitely not under Alexander.

 

Interesting one but would Man Utd loan out to us again after Wheatley poor showing and game time

 

Yeah i reckon it's Welch and Powell confirmed in the coming days. And then a loan RWB and then one of Lewis/PFA CM/Loan CM. And we are done with those 4 names.

 

I think they'll be realistic enough to know we did everything we could for him, he had plenty of chances and in the end it was probably best for him not to play as his confidence will have been in pieces.

 

I take it back then totally forgot about Shepherd khela and Adaromola . I was more fixed on last seasons poor showing with loans so totally overlooked those 3 from our promotion season.

 

I think Lewis will be moved on to be honest. I just struggle to see a world where we have him and Lapslie taking up the cover in case of injury slots. I've not looked but are we close to the O21 squad limit?

 

Agree, can only see Welch been offered a contract and Powell signing back on again.

 

Think Aaron Lewis could sign - seems to be able to cover a couple of positions, good age and good experience. Exactly the type of player GA likes.

 

I wouldnt mind Lewis signing, i just dunno how much we will use a utility man and it will come down to the player. Lewis is 28 now, he was rotating a lot at Mansfield for 3 seasons, he's now entering his prime. Does he fancy another spell as a rotational player at best? He's hitting his prime years, does he want to spend his prime in the stands? He could probably drop to L2 and play weekly.

 

Raynor has said that today is the squads first day off since pre-season began. I guess GA will contact Welch and Lewis today and let them know if they will be travelling into training tomorrow or not?
