Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

Sounds from the T&A this morning Powell is close to signing, so that would make Beesley, Powell & Ibbotson all vying for the one striker spot. Which hopefully will allow us to focus on centre mid, rwb and a back up left sided defender. I wouldn't be opposed to Powell, Welch & Lewis signing as squad fillers. Then we can go all out for that one big central midfield signing. Then it's loans if needed come deadline day, or left until January again.

 

I still feel it's very possible several clubs will have permanent and loan deals waiting to happen because clubs are holding on to those players while they wait for their own incomings or returns from the world Cup. Just look at the Man United side that played Wrexham for example! Many of them will go out on loan or permanent moves but were needed to play in a fixture.

 

Both Swan and Powell have scored at least twice this pre-season, which is positive. Hopefully Beesley will get one in the next match or two.

 

He would be another gamble which we can't afford regarding squad places because he's injured quite alot plus not much first team experience at this level.

 

Looking into his injury records he suffered a quad and calf injury whilst on loan at Wycombe in October 2025 and didn't return until December. He then had a recurrence of the injury late December just before his loan to Mansfield and reoccurring in April which ended his season and loan. He only played 11 games for Wycombe and just the 1 game for Mansfield.

 

Obviously but he’s been brought in because he’s played in midfield at championship level. Alexander sees him as a big signing but like all signings it may fail. Even though on paper it looks a decent one.

 

I just took the figures from wiki and stand corrected , theres no denying his ability it's just a case of if he can stay fit .

 

You'd also have Jackson who ended last season as the striker as well as Humphrys.

I know Alexander has said this is the season Ibbitson needs to make a breakthrough but I can't see where his chance from the bench even comes from with so many options for the striker position and only 1 position available in the starting 11. His only possibly route is a few injuries around the time of an EFL Trophy match and getting a place on the bench then making a huge impact when coming on. I'd be surprised if we get to around October time and he's not out on loan at a National League side

 

Someone who's not played in midfield for 9 years looks a decent midfield signing?

 

That midfield would worry me Serg. It has zero legs and pace so feels like they'd both just end up sitting incredibly deep in a re run of the back end of last year.

 

Great player though.
