No need to worry about the spelling. No chance Molyneux is coming here.

Donny's highest earner even before their latest contract offer and the fee would be way too high for us.

Probably more importantly, we are well covered for his position with other positions more of a priority.

 

No idea on the fee but I think the whole point of MCann talking about it in so much detail yesterday was to make sure other clubs are fully aware of his availability to try and start a bidding war.

 

No clue on fee. I think if the player kicks up a fuss they'll sell but he wont be cheap. McCann did the old "that bid wouldnt buy his right foot" kinda thing yesterday. You dont put out a statement about someone not signing a new deal, only reason they've done that is to start some bidding battle for sure. He'll move on this summer but i reckon it will be a sizeable 6 figure fee.

 

Bailey still linked with Sheff Weds? Can only see him moving on if there's a big contract on the table in L1 or the Champ.

 

Confirmation in the T&A this morning that the club decided against flying Humphrys out for the last couple of days so he can stay at home with his partner who has just given birth.

I've done a 180 spin on this. Having thought about it, it would be blooming marvellous for us to sign him just to pi$$ McCann off as I really can't stand the bloke and it would inevitably trigger the Donny fans too. Would be lovely to watch it all play out.

Not sure the fee and wages are worth that effort though...

 

I like Molyneux from what I've seen of him but if we are ever gonna invest let's say, half a million, in a player if be looking at someone younger with the potential for resale. At 28 years old there's pretty much no chance of recouping that investment.

 

He's also not quite right in that he's primarily a winger.

It's a no from me, not because he isn't good enough, but because of where we are as a club right now.

I can think of 4 or 5 League One clubs that make more sense to be making that sort of outlay for a 28 year old than us, and I wouldn't even say that makes me particularly envious, there are just more wasteful clubs out there than us that still struggle to stay ahead of us.
