My point about last season's approach is that we made a great start in having players already in place well before the start of the season. And we gained from that in getting points in the bag early days. That appears unlikely for the coming season.

Maybe GA already has his eyes on some loan players. In fairness, some clubs do really well with their loanees, Bolton being a prime example. We don't have a great track record in that market and unless things have changed markedly with our approach I'm less than confident that we will be successful in acquiring loanees who can really make a difference.

I'm not against us bringing loan players in but it hasn't been GA's style for the start of the season.

It feels like the world cup really halted the transfer market. We might see more announcements next week.

The loan market was shite was for us last season - the reason Bolton did so well is because some of the lads they had, they were paying over £10k a week.

If its a shortish deal and he isn't asking for too much then no issues from me. He has experience at RWB so can cover Josh, and Mansfield fans had a bit of praise for him too. Doesnt sound like a bad player so a useful one to have in the squad anyway.

I dont think we need to go overboard for a back up RWB. And if it allows budget/focus on a top CM, then I'm all for it.

We aren’t Chelsea who can have first team quality players as backup. Anyone who comes in a right wing back will be a young loan or someone willing to sit on the bench.

    Respectfully disagree.

Chelsea aside, we can absolutely afford two good quality players in each position, and I've never seen anything to suggest otherwise.

Last season we fielded no fewer than 7 different centre forwards (Cook, Humphrys, Jackson, Kavanagh, Mullin, Swan and Wheatley). All made league appearances.

That's a spot where we typically played one striker at a time.

To suggest we can't afford two right wing backs doesn't cut the mustard for me.

It sounds like Bailey is staying at Donny and is in the process of negotiating a new deal. An offer for Molyneux has been rejected but he's not interested in signing a new deal so I suspect he will be on his way at some point.

We have a very good RWB currently and only need adequate back up. Dont think we need to blow the budget on competition in that area - like the lad from Bolton who wouldnt be cheap.

We need quality, not quantity and in terms of squad fillers I would be looking to stretch the budget now and blowing rest on a CM. Thats the position we need.

Molyneux would be a very decent signing but we are covered in his position. Think he is out of contract next summer?

Well didn’t we last season? At least according to some who believe Ashby will be first choice at Luton. In fact didn’t you slag some fans on here who were saying he wasn’t very good?

Yeah I think he is, hence why I think even though they've rejected an initial offer, Donny will accept a bid eventually rather than letting him go for nothing next year.

League one clubs simply don’t have 2 quality players in every position. Who is the quality right wing back you think would be happy to come in and play second fiddle to Josh or happy to play 25 games a season? There isn’t any. They’d just sign for a club who guaranteed them as first choice.

Molyneux would be great if we switched tactic. Don't need another in his mould playing 5 at the back.

If they sign him and Langstaff then that is bonkers.
