    Tonight's plan was to visit Elf's Kirk View - to get a great view of Kielder Water. Only minutes from where we are staying.

    How it turned out...

    1. Ticket machine swallowed my last £2 coin and failed to produce a ticket.

    2. Walked to the supposed viewpoint. Trees now too tall to see the water, apart from a small slither. Waste of time/£2 coin.

    3. Decided to make the best of it with a walk around.

    4. Get attacked by midges, first time this holiday.

    5. Decide to turnaround, get attacked by the midges again.

    6. One minute from the car, the dog jumps into a sludgy bog.

    7. Have to drive 20 minutes to a place that has bike/dog washing facilities to wash her off. Drive home another 25 minutes.

    8. Take her for another walk to dry her off. Even on lead she manages to get covered in seeds.

    9. Dog now crying at the door to the lounge because can't let her in as she stinks.
