Sounds like their other striker Pepple is being chased by Pompey too. They've already picked up a fair few injuries this summer too and had some first teamers out for the first few months of the season. Cleverly sounded like they were looking fairly spent up on budget too last week. Obviously these moves will help that out, but you dont really want to be playing catch-up especially fi you need 2 starting centre forwards.

I fear this is what we could be doing (playing catch-up) if we don't get a leader in midfield by the start of the season. Gambling on moving Sarcevic back, Connolly not playing centre mid on 8 years and Cartwright no EFL games to his name, but I hope I'm proven wrong. Added to Beesley not having a great pre season, or if injured reverting to Swann who's an average striker at this level, or Jackson/Humps who are attacking players, filling in a spot that really isn't their game. Or gambling that Ibbotson becomes a good striker at this level, which I hope he does, but it's a gamble. Maybe I'm being negative, but it seems like others around us have strengthened better.

Bogle and Eaves from the PFA list i'd be happy with as BACK UP, not first choice (let's face it, it'll be Beesley anyway)

Beesley not having a great pre season is a mental statement.

I wouldn’t expect any new face until mid week ,next week
Can’t see them bringing anyone in whilst they are in Austria
Got to be more coming in as the squad is very light in certain positions

I never get too involved till the season starts but anyone thinking pre season is anything more than players getting minutes in the bank is delusional. Be about 6 games into the season before we see signs of a new team getting used to the individuals within that set up.

Exactly. These friendlies are a training exercise in getting fitness up to speed but also learning how to play with your new team mates, patterns of play, new tactics. Fans seem to have no patience nowadays and just expect everything to click day one.

It wasn't me that edited it, however Owen Moxon's wiki page is suggesting we've signed him on loan from Stockport

Probably nonsense but a hell of a signing if true

That one was spotted months ago, think it was edited in early May from memory. I'd say it's surprising that it hasn't been changed back but i cant imagine the Owen Moxen wiki page is visited that often.

If there is any truth in this, it's not the amazing signing as some might describe it. Moxon had a great spell at Carlisle and earned his reputation there. Since then he has played for Pompey, Stockport and Wigan on loan without making the same impact he made at Carlisle. He's a lower league player who has failed to capitalise on earlier achievements. And now apparently, Stockport, a club which has promotion aspirations, is willing to loan him out again, this time to a competitor! Either way, whether it's BS or a genuine rumour, imo he's a busted flush for a club with our aspirations.

Based on our 1-1 draw with Sarfend last Saturday I'm very concerned that we're doomed to a double relegation, though on the upside the u21's beat Canvey Island 2-1

Il get blasted as overly negative but I think bar Philips and the lad from Charlton it’s been a poor window. They are the only improvements I see. People say trust them we did that in January and look at how poor that window was one of the worst for a while. 0 pace or athleticism in the squad bar wright. No support for Bobby, holes in the middle with make shift defenders dropping in. I don’t get the impression from GA he’s overly happy with what he seeing in pre seasons. We got a tough tough start to season and we if we go with what we got today I am worried. Yes I was last year and was proven wrong I admit. But if you look at January onwards we were very poor in periods and hoping that doesn’t carry forward into this season.

GA did speak to people while he/we was over in Austria last time. I remember him mentioning it. Although I agree signings this week are probably unlikely.

Neither are better players than Powell, who, if we can get him on the pitch enough would be fine with Humphrys, Jackson and Swan providing options.

Looking for a hat-trick after Luton and Leicester - who’s more likely out of Wolves, Burnley and Wedt Ham?

Picking one thing from what @BantamJ@BantamJ said - we do seem woefully short in pace.
