    On the other side what would a game against Sunderland first 11 bring, perhaps 6-0 tanking . That wouldn’t do a lot for moral?

    Nothing of any substance as it’s clear we will play multiple 11’s over 90m durations . Where was it we lost 5-0 , Guisley or somewhere silly Andy?

    Even in seasons when there isn't an international tournament it will always be unlikely as the Premier League clubs will be on tours around the world. This season it will be even more unlikely with the World Cup continuing until half way through our pre-season and the Premier League starting 2 weeks after us so they won't be back for another couple of weeks, most
    Premier League clubs won't be playing a friendly until we play Preston. Unless you're a club with a link to a Premier League club like Walsall have with Villa or Gateshead with Newcastle it is very hard, as things stand there are only 9 friendlies across the 20 Premier League clubs against EFL/National League clubs. Ultimately we have a limited amount of Premier League clubs near us and they all either have options nearer e.g. Newcastle at Gateshead, Everton at Bolton or they are far too big for us and will be abroad e.g. the Manchester clubs.
    Even if we did get a Premier League club it would have very few first team players as all of the international players at the World Cup won't be back in pre-season until late July at the earliest.

    Even when we played Liverpool for a ‘special’ event the biggest name on show was James Milner lol.
    And as far as Preston, even if it was a competitive game there would be very little interest.

    for me, it’s not so much about the opposition but more about organising a game which creates interest or a team we could never normally play.
    Eg. We went to Motherwell and St Mirren not long ago.
    We had a mini tournament I think we played Aberdeen.

    Rumours that the fiest half trialists are Reece James (who has played before) and Aaron Lewis (formally of Mansfield). Right footed sort of utility player who has played right back/right centre back/right midfield.

    If I remember rightly from the couple of times we've played them at theirs in the Carabao Cup that the sun sets behind the home stand behind the goals and when it's low it's right in the eyes of the keeper by the away fans so I'd imagine they want us to be facing the sun when it setting in the 2nd half

    From what i could see on the internet he has played all over - very similar to Connolly.

    Incidentally, Connolly was captain in the first half.

    Interesting that Powell got the captain's armband for the 2nd team although looking at the side it was an inexperienced side.

    That being said as long as Powell gets to full time of the Salford game without picking up an injury I think he'll be confirmed on a new contract
