Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

I’ve not been fully keeping up with other clubs. Who in our league (excluding the obvious money bags or Leicester, Wednesday and Luton) have signed a centre mid who suit the needs we have?

 

MK Dons have signed Ryan Wintle. Unfortunately way out of our bracket. He turned down a new contract offer at Cardiff. The lad obviously chasing the big bucks.

Not sure who else is out there within our budget. Power will be a big miss in my opinion.

 

He's defensive mid isn't he?

 

He is. In my opinion we havent replaced Power adequately. Cartwright has no EFL experience and not convinced that Connelly is the answer in midfield after playing centre back in recent years.

 

I understand your point on quality/fit - we don't know if either will fit. My issue at the moment is that both are defensive. We need a more box-to-box type midfielder or someone more attack minded.

Also agree that Power feels a loss at the moment. We can only try and stay patient i guess.

 

A lot may disagree with me, but I think the loss of Power is potentially more damaging than losing Metcalfe. The experience and captaincy we have lost should not be underestimated.

Lapslie ?

 

He is a good player to have around he pops up with goals and was one of our best players in the run in. He was unlucky not to play more games and if he sticks around could play a part next season

 

Agreed - very very under-rated player. I do feel ( with no real evidence to back up this assertion) , that he is a confidence player and would respond well to an “ arm around the shoulder” type of manager which I don’t think Alexander is

 

Interesting interview with Sharpe. One thing that struck me was the number of times he said when I leave, or after I’ve gone. I wonder how much longer he plans to stick around.
I hope when he goes, Sparks doesn’t think he can do the role again, and that we bring in someone of equal experience.

 

It took the club long enough to realise you need the footballing expertise of someone like Sharpe, when he does leave there would need to be a like minded replacement coming in.

 

He's a player with bags and bags of enthusiasm and effort but not a huge amount of ability. I'm fine with him in the squad but if he's to be relied up on to play more than a bit part then recruitment has failed.

 

With much more quality and who doesn't run around like a headless chicken.
