We may agree with agents to take them on as trialists to keep them sweet. It helps the agent promote their player, the player gets training and fit and they fill gaps in our squad until we have new bodies in place.
You rarely may get one who fits our criteria / requirements and as a bonus we can recruit him

August 8th and then 15th are the dates we are building towards
I think there will be more decent signings before those dates
It would be nice to have the squad in place from day one, but that doesn’t happen at any club
There is no harm in looking at these players, doesn’t mean they will be signed up

Yes but he has so underperformed at this world cup, that his value has dropped to a bottle of Tizer and a bag of pork scratching, meaning we have a chance

Did we sign anyone after the season had kicked off last year can you remember, or was the full squad already in place?

After going to the game Saturday, none of the trialists was any good, apart from Reece James but he’s a left back or left centre half so we don’t need him. Welch was out of position everytime Halifax attacked which wasn’t much granted but he still looked awful.
Cartwright looked more like a sitting player than a box to box to me so maybe he covers powers role.
Middle centre half , central midfielder of good quality and some completion for neufville

I had a feeling we did with Powell, honestly forgot all about McIntyre, feels like that was a couple of seasons ago.

Leicester, ‘will have to pay back a £50m loan from Australian bank Macquarie, with £25m to be paid back this season and next season’. They lost £71.1 Million https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/breaking-leicester-city-announce-significant-10889538
Their debt is immense. They will struggle to pay new players high salaries. It is either reduce your outgoings or borrow even more. I understand they owe Australian bank Macquarie just short of £100 Million with an interest rate averaging 8.1% (so £8 Million + a year just to service the debt?).
Quite frankly they are in an appalling state. I also understand they owe HMCR a considerable sum.
The potential for none payment of salaries, court action to recover money and even a winding up order must be real. There should be a salary cap, to reduce the vulnerability to increasing debt. https://theesk.org/2026/04/20/the-analysis-series-leicester-citys-fall-from-grace/
To put it bluntly they are in a huge mess and most players should give the club a wide berth, unless they are in the ‘desperate’ category.

That is scary, such levels of debt
Another poor season and they could be gone, they surely can’t be paying out big wages

Has anyone seen the video going around of a player at VP. Likely a new signing on the way.

These are some figures for last season. ‘The average League One salary for 2025/26 is £4,100 per week or around £215,000 per annum. This figure is drawn from 640 recorded player salaries, which is around 26 or 27 players per club’. https://www.888sport.com/blog/football/league-one-salary
If @Lard Arse@Lard Arse figures are correct (Vestergaard £60k a week, Skipp £50k a week), then their combined salaries alone are virtually the equivalent of 27 players!
As I said it is crazy, how much longer can these clubs operate with such a deficit, beggars belief!
