    Welch turned us down a few year ago from memory? I'm sure we made an approach a good few seasons back and he went on loan to somewhere in Europe instead

    We are a different proposition now. Maybe he has seen how Jenson Metcalfe thrived here and furthered his career.

    Yeah I'm not saying anything against it. Im sayings that he's someone we've had an eye on previously. Think we were after him around the time we got that Diabate lad on loan to pad out the squad.

    Hopefully he impresses in training and maybe at Halifax tomorrow because we could do with another centre back in the ranks in my opinion.

    I wonder whether Sheff Wed have dropped their interest now and turning elsewhere?

    Sheff Weds have already brought in 2 central defenders and now have 6 first team natural CBs on the books. Think they are just stocked up now.

    Based on what? One of them has lots of football league experience mostly in league one. The other has a handful of games for Forest Green.

    Based on both are trialists and will be squad fillers...6th choice as things stand. Im taking the kid that is 22 and has room to grow rather than the 32 year old, with recent injuries and released by Port Vale.

    Its pretty simple really.

    I havent. But on paper the 22 year old appeals more for his role in the squad. One can get better - one will only decline.

    Lad could be anything, but at 22 years old with little more than a handful of meaningful games in his career he really needs to start producing the goods somewhere. Football is full of lads like this who end up drifting into obscurity.

    As regards reece welsh, the lad is 22 years old, just released from a premier league 2 aquad, he has played numerous games for a England u20 set up, for every welsh there is a neil byrne or similar, sorry also forgot about the world beater centre half we got who ended up in the Gibraltar league

    True or could be a Kyron Gordon, another we had on trial after a handful of games for Sheff Utd. Now 24 and after 2 good years at Rochdale has just signed for Stockport.
