Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

We aren't a million miles off tbf! Them and us were the only 2 sides last season to field a starting 11 with an average age of over 30 more than once last season. Both us and them fielded teams over 29 most weeks, they were slightly older.

 

He was a target for non league and league 2 clubs a few weeks ago.

Somebody asked if GA was happy with current squad size, he said hes looking to get 2/3 more players in.

 

So that means 4/5 incoming then

 

The fact they finished 15th wasn’t down to Jordan Davies, he had another 10 players alongside him.

 

True, but the fact that it's non league and league 2 clubs that have been showing an interest in him is a pretty good indicator of his level.

 

Both trialists are decent footballers who have had injury hit seasons.

 

But neither are top end L1 players

 

Given that he only started 5 games despite being in the squad 17 times it's also hard to believe that he'd have made much of a difference either way.

 

Of course it wasn’t all down to him. My point is that a League Two club which finished 15th didn’t think he was worth offering a new deal.

If we’re aiming to challenge at the top end of League One, I’d hope we’re targeting better players than that.

 

According to latest T&A interview with GA, he is 90/95% there with his squad and looking to add 1 more, numbers wise, with nothing in the pipeline. Trialists here to try and earn a contract, along with a couple more trialists coming in.

That to me indicates budget almost spent and unless anyone leaves it is just 1 more incoming. If so, I wonder what position?

 

I hope I'm wrong (heck I was last season), but the central midfield we have built doesn't scream fighting for promotion to me. I feel we need both an extra body in there and extra quality.

 

We've only got one genuine central midfielder and he's never started an English league football game.

It's definitely the area we need another experienced body I'd say.

 

I never read into anything like that it's just a smokescreen 99% of the time. I fully expect another 3 players before we entertain Peterborough

 

Isn’t over a hundred games in midfield mostly in the championship good enough experience for you

 

It's GA during a transfer window, always take what he says with a pinch of salt. He often has said one thing then the opposite happens during his time here on transfers. There will 100% be another wing back and midfielder added to the ranks, probably another CB too along with Powell.

The budget being close to spent up i can kinda believe, but there will be wiggle room still. Might be in the cheaper youth loan territory.

 

Maybe he's being a bit more coy on the record and he's looking at more than 1 really.
