I'm sure I heard Powell is already signed (not announced). What I heard is very basic wage with game related add ons. Which would be good business for both parties.

 

Says a lot about how much we've kicked on. This time last year, probably 80/90% of the fanbase would have accepted 20th place and surviving in L1 last season, and you'd then look at some of these lads or your Heneghan types, yo-yo L1/L2 types in the hope of survival.

Whereas now you wouldn't really take a look at any/many of these lads, maybe one or two at best. And these days i bet half the fanbase wouldn't really accept a 13th-20th place finish as we've kicked on as a club.

 

We must ensure we dont do a Wycombe...... Lots of teams fall flat after a good season. I think we have recruited well...lets hope for another signing or two..... Cmon City

 

We’re probably going to get the odd player like Heneghan as backup - in the Huntington mould… experienced and useful when called upon, happy to be around the squad and used as and when required.

 

Not according to GA yestetday. He is still training with us and trying to convince GA that we will get more from him if he stays on, than we gor last season.

 

It will only be good for us if he actually plays, if he has another injury hit campaign we can pretend we've lost nothing, but we've a) wasted even a basic wage and b) avoided signing someone else.

It would still be a self-inflicted defeat.

 

The ball is very much in our court with this one and absolutely no need to rush on a decision because I doubt very much there are a host of other clubs lining up with better offers. Take our time, see if he can prove himself in pre season and if we are confident he can contribute a lot more than he did last season, offer him a 6 month contract with a view to extending to the end of the season if he does well. In the meantime, if an opportunity comes up to replace him with someone better, tell him thanks but no thanks and wish him well.

 

CM depth, wingback cover and LCB still the biggest holes that need filling? Maybe the rest are if we get any outs and a slot opens up?

 

I think we are okay at LCB with Gillesphey and Touray. I would like to see us upgrade Pennington or Joe Wright by bringing in another right sided or central centre back.

 

Touray generally plays that LWB position tho, so that means if he’s the cover then we’re only left with Tyreik at LWB.
I think we’ll have four players to cover those two positions personally

 

Powell is a good footballer, but his injury record has held him back his whole career
It’s a no from me, even on a structured pay as you play deal
He provided very little last season

 

I think if Touray is the LCB backup, we probably need wing back cover on both sides or someone who is comfortable on either flank. It kinda goes unnoticed, but Tyreik does have a habit of picking up random little issues. In every season we've had him barring his first loan spell, he's had a few spells of missing 6/7/8 ish games and we certainly need someone who can fill his shoes. I dont think Touray is that man anymore as he just cant get up the pitch like Wright can and be a threat.

LCB - Gillesphey/Touray
LWB - T Wright

That’s how I see things currently. I’d like to see a wing back for either side or one that can play both and another CB.

Another CM is a must also.

I’d like to see Lunn go out on loan after pre season to get regular minutes.

 

I would sign Ashby , he did ok when needed plus he can play both right and left wing back plus centre back so adequate cover for the whole back line. He played championship football so he has the ability plus he's only going to improve.

 

Harry Gray has now signed for Wednesday, Bannan has rejoined and they are heavily linked with Louie Barry. Their rebuild is well underway.
