Upgrade on what?

Think he's going to be a versatile squad player personally, and I'm not sure we had one of those last season.

Can play a number of positions, generally all defensive, but also in midfield. Can't see him as an "upgrade" on Power if that's what you mean? Maybe on Kelly.

 

You don't believe what? That I don't know who he is? What a strange thing that would be to lie about. He's a squad player at Stockport, not David Beckham, I'm sure there are plenty of people having to look him up, you can tell by the posts on here.

 

Literally not a single negative to this signing. Stockport fans wanted him kept despite not playing since November.

 

Our Stockport friends told us he is a very good solid defender. Nothing fancy just hardworking and defends well. They say he was very much missed towards the end of the season.

According to this Stockport fan he never played in midfield for them, although that’s seemingly what we signed him for?

 

Apparently played a season for Ipswich in the championship in midfield so must be able to play there. But we do need a more forward thinking player as his partner

 

Decent signing if we primarily play him at centre back with the occasional cover for defensive midfield.

I would be concerned though if he has been brought in to replace Power.

I wonder whether we are struggling to bring in quality central midfielders at the moment due to budget.

 

Compared to Powers game time before joining City? Between 2023-2025 and signing for City he played just over 20 games. Power didn’t turn out so bad . Let’s see? My guess a central defender cover?

 

Didnt know that, he does sound very versatile then which GA seems to like.

I can’t see him being a first choice central midfielder for us to be honest. I think Alexander is adding experience and versatility to the squad more than anything else.

 

Good signing this but don't put me off with versatility guff, you know how it irrationally angers me lol. I want players for specific positions, for me he's been signed to start at centre back.

Someone mentioned this was done in early June, sure I read it on here.

I dont like this talk of a DM position. Even the club have announced him as a MF when he hasnt played there for Stockport or Blackpool. Decent L1 CB though.

Experience, versatility and probably not costing the earth either. It seems like a sensible signing. He doesn’t immediately strike me as a guaranteed starter at either centre back or in midfield, but he’s exactly the sort of player every squad needs. Overall, I’d say it’s a very sensible piece of business.
