If Charles was so good at Bolton why did their fans want rid of him in the end and lo and behold he was also shocking , after being warned he would be, at Huddersfield ? 10 mins reading on other forums gives a flavour .

He scored a goal every 2.7 games at Bolton. It’s hardly awful. Granted he did poorly at Huddersfield but that place has been a strikers graveyard.

 

Especially not for a bloke who was our best player last season.

Must be extremely good if he did that without any legs.

We have done it ourselves too. Oliver in the recent past to name but one. What’s he doing these days . Andy Cook I fear will go the same way. Time, players and age moves us all on.

Strikers are so hard to get hold of nowadays. Such an expensive commodity with no guarantee that they’ll come good. Getting rid of Charles and bringing in Ashley Fletcher is just weird business anyway. Very similar profiles, exact same age and Fletcher basically didn’t score a goal until going to Blackpool. It does feel there is very little planning f going on down the road.
Keep trying - but don’t keep trying the same thing if it’s clearly not working.

Whilst there's nothing much happening for us at the moment, it's all kicking off in the national league. Hartlepool have announced the signing of Will Harris from Halifax, Halifax are having none of it

 

He will be gone by the end of next season.
Maybe even Jan.

First pre season match two weeks today
Probably some players announced at the forum ready for a return to training
Hoping the apparent slowish activity is due to quality of players we are still chasing and that they are mostly in place for the Austria trip

Saw a bit of that the other day, sounds a right piss take! This lad and his agent believed Halifax hadn't triggered his 1 year option on his deal and he was free to go. Halifax say they had triggered it and went through the proper measures to do so. Harris has reached out to the PFA to say being forced to stay at Halifax will have a terrible effect on his mental health..... messy one!

 

When is pre season training starting? We need some players
