Yeah I saw the same. Sheff Weds are trying to bring in Brannagan the Oxford captain and Wintle would be his replacement if he moves on. But a lot of teams seem to want Wintle too.

Guessing guys like Wintle, Odin Bailey etc who have a lot of known chasers will want to get signed up in the next week or so at the latest? Probably dont want to be a week or more behind the rest in pre-season.

Nah.. We might be premiership winners in 3 seasons but could we cope with the Bantam Talk spellings of Mbappy, Dembelly and Eloise?

They are, but it's watching the movement of the the French front line. Almost as impressive as Mills & Blake, with Beagrie, Lawrence and McCall backing them up...

    <sigh again>

    Good times...

The damned version is inferior to the Bary Ryan original.

I remember Barry Ryan getting to number 2 in the charts in 1968 one of (Marian Ryan's) twin sons, before your time mate.

You see all this pipe dream dreaming nonsense can be put to bed in 2 words. Benito Carbone.
If anyone had suggested that on a message board (I know, it pre-dates them), they’d have been carted off to Lynfield Mount pronto.

Thats comforting. Was 25 years ago in the Premier League, but still very comforting.

GA confirms today that 'irons in the fire' regarding replacements for Power and Metcalfe, and more talks planned with others.

GA said that willing to wait for right players and not neccesary to have them in early doors.

That's the Scarborough warning for the fans forum. I wouldn't expect any big reveals on the night.

I quote “Losing Max and Jenson was a little bit of an issue for us. But that happens in football and I’ve got confidence we’ll identify the right players and get them in.”

This could be a big test for Sparks and Rupp. If we don't fund at least the equivalent abilities of Metcalfe and Power, and the team is weaker as a result, it could open the door for other chairmen to try and tempt Alexander away with a promise of riches over and above what we can afford. I know he's playing down the Metcalfe money, but he'll be frustrated if we have another January window scenario where most of the recruits from the database he mentions in the article, let us down badly.

It sounded more like we are struggling to get midfield replacements, and we will have to wait and see who will eventually sign.

It sounded to me like Alexander fully expected Metcalfe to go but was surprised Power went as well. Reading from what was said at the time of Power's move it came out of the blue and it was Power himself who pushed for it rather than city wanting to move him on.

It sounds like clubs are waiting for the dominoes to fall, one move creates another and so on . People pick up “spin” from Twitter, Facebook, EFL World and clowns like Nixon that clubs are “ interested in”, “leading the chase in” ,
“ favourites to sign” and because we don’t get mentioned , we are somehow behind ..

It’s all patent nonsense with agents merely trying to get the best deal for their clients. It’s as simple as that OGF.

Sounds like we are struggling in this area but according to some we’ve got players to be announced. City vent, some posters on here have been on strings with their contacts am afraid.

I wonder if we are struggling to get midfielders in after reading it? Or maybe agents now know we have zero central midfielders on the books and are trying to leverage their hand a bit and ask for a bit more cash thinking we are desperate?

Get to that point now where training starts and first friendlies are next week and deals become a few percent more needed than they were.
